In other words, IT often focuses on how to build (software/algorithms), while Information Systems focuses on how technology solves business problems and the human-system interaction. This statement aligns with the modern Information Systems curriculum framework and competencies recommended internationally.
The latest curriculum guidelines for the Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems Outcome-Based Education (OBE) program emphasize cross-disciplinary skills: organizational needs analysis, data management, user-centered systems design, information security, and data ethics and governance, as well as the Graduate Profile Achievements (CPL), all of which are taught to students through an intensive practical approach. This ensures that graduates not only understand technology but can also design solutions that are secure, reliable, compliant with regulations, and meet user needs. The OBE curriculum approach currently applied at UNPRI, especially in the Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems Program, aims to enhance the relevance of Information Systems in critical sectors, such as healthcare and hospital management, which is not a coincidence as UNPRI, a private university, has the largest healthcare facilities in Indonesia, ranging from clinics to hospitals.
The connectivity between Information Systems and the healthcare sector is one of the relevant focuses for UNPRI: in the digital era, hospitals and clinics require Information Systems professionals to build and maintain electronic medical records systems, clinical management dashboards, devices, and clinical decision systems.
