Exploring Historic Architectural Heritage: UNPRI Architecture Study Program Successfully Holds Sketch Day 2026 in Kesawan Medan
Capturing Kesawan Heritage Buildings' Beauty Through Hand-Drawn Sketches
Medan, October 12, 2026 — The Architecture Study Program at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) successfully hosted its annual Architecture Sketch Day 2026 within the historic Kesawan district of Medan on Monday (Oct 12, 2026). Guided by the inspiring theme “One Team, One Journey,” this culturally rich heritage zone—lined with magnificent historical buildings featuring diverse architectural styles—served as an immersive open-air classroom for students.
The event was officially inaugurated by the Head of the UNPRI Architecture Study Program, Dr. Meyga Fitri Handayani Nst., S.T., M.T. Accompanying the students and providing expert guidance were faculty members Ar. Rahma Wardani Siregar, S.T., M.T.; Sari Desi Minta Ito Simbolon, S.T., M.T.; Destia Farahdina, S.T., M.T.; and Putri Puspa Sari, S.Ars., M.Ars. Their active presence underscored the program's dedication to bridging academic theory with hands-on field practice while fostering close bonds across student cohorts.
The Sketch Day drew enthusiastic participation from architecture students spanning semesters 1 through 7. On-site, participants closely observed environmental settings, historical contexts, and architectural details before translating them into detailed sketches. This exercise was designed to sharpen visual sensitivity, enhance an understanding of structural proportions, and build direct spatial sketching skills.
Beyond academic learning, the event served as a heartwarming welcoming platform for incoming UNPRI architecture students. Newcomers were introduced to the vibrant academic atmosphere of architecture studies while networking with senior peers and faculty. This cross-batch togetherness mirrors the spirit of *One Team, One Journey*, emphasizing that the architectural education journey is undertaken collectively.
Through this successful initiative, the UNPRI Architecture Study Program hopes students will deepen their appreciation of architecture's role in daily life and remain inspired to innovate.
