Collaborative Action of UNPRI Informatics Students at Global Game Jam 2026
How Participating in Global Game Jam 2026 Strengthens the IT Competencies of UNPRI Students.
Students and lecturers from the Informatics Engineering Study Program at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) actively participated in the Global Game Jam Medan 2026, held from January 31 to February 2, 2026, at PosBloc Medan. This prestigious international event is a global movement that challenges developers worldwide to collaborate simultaneously on game creation within a very limited timeframe.
In Medan, the event was organized by Global Game Jam, the Indonesian Game Association, and Gamedev Medan, with extensive support from the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), BERKAF, Agate Academy, Anoa Interactive, and other industry giants. Participants were challenged to design and build a functional game prototype in just 48 hours, based on a secret theme revealed only at the start of the event. This high-pressure environment tested their technical skills, creativity, and endurance.
The UNPRI representative team showcased a solid synergy between academic guidance and student innovation. Aditya Ahmad Pribadi, a 7th-semester Informatics Engineering student, served as the Project Manager, coordinating the project's overall workflow and development. Supporting him, Syarifah Atika, S.Kom., M.Kom., a lecturer at UNPRI, took on multiple roles as a Writer, Game Researcher, and 2D Asset Designer. This collaboration highlights UNPRI's approach to bridging the gap between theoretical education and real-world industrial application.
"This participation is a valuable experience that not only trains the technical aspects of game development but also hones time management, team communication, and cross-role collaboration in a highly dynamic atmosphere. This event serves as a strategic platform for UNPRI’s academic community to build professional relationships and expand networks within the national and international creative technology industries."
