UNPRI Signs MoU with Nanjing Medical University and Royal Prima Hospital
Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) received a visit from a delegation from Nanjing Medical University (NMU), China, in order to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which aims to strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, research, and community service, especially in the health sector.
The signing of this MoU also involved the Royal Prima Hospital as part of the synergy between higher education institutions and health services at the international level. This meeting was held in the meeting room of Universitas Prima Indonesia Jl. Sampul No. 3, Medan, Friday, May 16, 2025.
The visit and agreement were attended by representatives from Nanjing Medical University, including Prof. Qing Lan (The Chancellor of NMU), Mr. Shendqiang Jiang (Director of Chancellor Office, NMU), Chunhong Han (Director of The Teaching Management Department, NMU), Qingguo Li (Director of the Second Affiliated Hospital, NMU), and Yilan Zhao (Staff of the International Education School, NMU).
Also present at this meeting were representatives from Universitas Prima Indonesia, including the Rector of Universitas Prima Indonesia Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes, Vice Rector I Abdi Dharma M.Kom, Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Ermi Girsang MKes, Vice Rector III Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Vice Rector IV Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, MKT, MKM, Sp. KKLP (K), and the ranks of deans of Universitas Prima Indonesia.
Director of Royal Prima Hospital, Dr. dr. Wienaldi, M.K.M., Director of Prima Dental and Oral Hospital, Dr. drg. Florenly, MHSM., MPH., C.Ort., FICCDE., and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Prima Indonesia Higher Education Foundation, Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., also attended this agreement. This activity was opened with a warm welcome by the Rector of Universitas Prima Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes. In his speech, the Rector of UNPRI conveyed UNPRI's commitment to establishing strategic collaboration, which not only strengthens relations between countries, but also encourages the exchange of knowledge and culture.
"The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding today marks an important step in building a strong academic and cultural bridge between the two institutions. This collaboration is not merely symbolic, but reflects our shared vision in advancing education, medical research, and global health," said Prof. Chrismis.
Then, Vice Rector IV of Universitas Prima Indonesia, Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, MKT, MKM, Sp. KKLP (K), began his further presentation regarding the development of Universitas Prima Indonesia from year to year, the achievements made, and the potential benefits that can be generated from the cooperation between the two institutions.
At the meeting, Vice Rector IV believed that the strategic cooperation between the two institutions was one of the initial steps for Universitas Prima to become an Impactful University. A similar view was also conveyed by the Rector of Nanjing Medical University, Prof. Qing Lan, who also attended the event. In his presentation, Prof. Qing Lan emphasized that the relationship between UNPRI and NMU has been established since 2016 and has resulted in various forms of cooperation that have had a significant impact, including student exchange programs, the development of dual degree programs, and collaboration between the teaching hospitals of both universities.
"This cooperation has provided real benefits for both parties, and we believe that the partnership strengthened today will bring broader results in academic development and health services," said Prof. Qing Lan.
On the same occasion, the Director of Royal Prima Hospital, Dr. dr. Wienaldi, M.K.M., expressed his optimism about this collaboration. He emphasized that Royal Prima Hospital is ready to support this international cooperation by providing superior facilities as well as mentoring and internship programs for international students.
Through this MoU, UNPRI, NMU, and Royal Prima Hospital have agreed on a number of strategic initiatives, including improving the quality of teaching through the exchange of information, teaching staff, and curriculum design, organizing student exchange programs at the master's and doctoral levels, collaboration in multidisciplinary research in the health sector, and opportunities for clinical internships for students at hospitals in both institutions.
This signing marks a new chapter in the educational diplomacy and development of health research at Universitas Prima Indonesia and Nanjing Medical University, which is expected to bring positive contributions to the progress higher education and national health services to Global Ilman Akbar Effendi Prima Indonesia University Cooperation Unit.(RED/MBB)
