Grand Launching of UNPRI Doctor of Law
Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Medan officially opened the Doctoral Program in Law. The grand launching of the doctoral program in law was held on Friday (14/1/2021), in the main campus hall of UNPRI Medan, Jalan Sampul, Medan, after obtaining permission from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology on December 8, 2021.
A press release received by medanbisnisdaily.com, Saturday (15/1/2022) afternoon stated that the Chancellor of UNPRI Medan, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., said that the opening of the doctoral program in law adds to the existing doctoral program, namely the Doctoral Program in Medical Science and Management.
"The opening of this doctoral program in law has gone through a number of challenges. However, we were able to overcome these challenges thanks to the collaborative steps we took and the full support of the founder and Chair of BPH UNPRI, as well as the entire Rectorate," he said. The Chancellor is optimistic that the opening of the doctoral program in law will support the improvement of the quality of North Sumatra's human resources and be able to provide contributions and solutions in the midst of society. This is an extraordinary step at the beginning of 2022.
"Hopefully this new doctoral program and other doctoral programs can run well and progress further," he said.
Head of LLDikti Region I North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Hajar MSi also read out the permit for the opening of the Unpri Law Doctoral Program, while hoping that the opening of this law doctoral program would be able to answer the dynamics of dynamic and multi-dimensional changes.
Ibnu Hajar said that the dynamic and multi-dimensional developments are certainly full of legal aspects. Therefore, he hopes that the Unpri law doctoral program will be able to produce thinkers who are able to provide options and solutions to legal problems in North Sumatra in particular and in Indonesia in general. "This is a good early year gift, hopefully in the future the doctoral program at Unpri can be pushed to international standards," said Ibnu Hajar.
Ibnu Hajar said that many universities are developing in North Sumatra, but Unpri is the fastest. "There are a number of universities in North Sumatra that are developing and great, but Unpri's development is the most rapid among all other universities. Until now, only the Unpri Campus Building has been built up to 26 floors," he said. Previously, an MoU was signed between Unpri Medan and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia. The signing of the MoU was carried out by Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting MKes representing Unpri and the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia Prof. Dr. Guntur Hamzah SH MH representing the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Governor of North Sumatra, represented by the Expert Staff for Education, Dr. Kaiman Turnip, said that through the opening of the doctoral program in law at Unpri, it is hoped that law enforcement in North Sumatra will also improve, where doctoral graduates of law from Unpri will contribute to handling legal problems in society. "Congratulations on the opening of the doctoral program in law at Unpri Medan, hopefully law enforcement in North Sumatra will be better in the future. Congratulations on running this new program well. The North Sumatra Provincial Government staff will also be able to continue their education to the Unpri Doctoral Program in Law, no need to go outside Medan City," he added.
After the signing of the MoU between Unpri and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia and the grand launching of the Unpri Doctoral Program in Law, the event continued with a national seminar in law, featuring two speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Guntur Hamzah SH MH as the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia and Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ayu Rachmi Handayani SM MH, Dean of the Faculty of Law UNS, moderated by Dr. Kartina Pakpahan, SH, MH, Head of the Masters Law Study Program at UNPRI.
A number of figures also attended the event, including Dr. RE Nainggolan, Kasdam I Bukit Barisan, Brigadier General TNI Purwito Hadi Wardhono; Former Mayor of Medan, H Abdillah; Founder of UNPRI Prof. Dr. dr. I Nyoman E. Lister, M.Kes. AIFM; Head of BPH UNPRI, Dr. Tommy Leonard, M.Kn.; Head of Doctoral Program in Law UNPRI Prof. Roswita Sitompul, S.H., M.Hum., Ph.D.; Dean of the Faculty of Law UNPRI, Dr. Elvira Fitriyani Pakpahan, S.H., M.H. and representatives of other PTS.
Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn. said that his party was ready to implement the Doctoral program in law and ensured that it would run according to the correct rules and standards. Tommy also hopes that this Doctoral program in law can be one of the solutions to various problems faced by the nation and can build graduates with a global perspective.
