On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST) of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) held a public lecture event aimed at encouraging academic collaboration and scientific publications. The event took place at the UNPRI Main Campus Hall located on Jalan Sampul 4, Medan City.
The event, which was attended by around 350 UNPRI Academicians, was also attended by the Dean of FAST UNPRI, Prof. Ir Bhakti Alamsyah P.hD, along with vice deans, representatives of study program heads, and heads of bureaus/institutions.
In his remarks, Prof. Ir Bhakti Alamsyah, Dean of FAST UNPRI, emphasized the importance of academic seminars in developing science, especially in the fields of Science and Technology. He also expressed UNPRI's desire to be on par with international universities through the visiting lecturer/professor program. In this context, UNPRI is active in holding activities involving visiting lecturers/professors to share knowledge. This effort is in line with UNPRI's vision to improve its ranking at the international level.
Prof. Ir Bhakti Alamsyah hopes that this public lecture will be a valuable opportunity for students to expand their networks and for lecturers to share knowledge and conduct research together. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between students, lecturers, structures, and leaders in achieving these goals.
In order to support the Kemenristek Dikti Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program which involves the arrival of guest lecturers, this public lecture also has strong relevance. This theme focuses on understanding technology applications, research implementation, and publication processes, especially in the field of Engineering.
Prof. Ir Bhakti Alamsyah directly conveyed his hopes to the students, "I hope that the students will use this as a valuable opportunity, and for lecturers to share knowledge. This is something that is needed for networking and joint research." This message emphasizes the importance of utilizing this public lecture event as a means to increase collaboration between students and lecturers and expand valuable academic networks.
This public lecture was opened by Moderator Christin Erniati Panjaitan, S.T, M.Sc with two sessions of presentations from international lecturers who were present at this event.
In the first session, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Muzammil bin Juroh (C.Eng) from University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) gave a lecture on the topic "Tips to Get Published in High Impact Factor Journal". In this session, he shared tips and strategies for publishing scientific papers in prestigious journals with high impact factors. He highlighted the importance of choosing the right journal, as well as the criteria and standards that must be met in the process of writing and submitting scientific articles. In addition, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Muzammil bin Juroh also shared his experiences and insights on best practices in attracting the attention of journal editors and overcoming challenges and obstacles that may be faced in the publication process.
The second session was filled by Ts. Dr. Mohd Azlishah Bin Othman CEng, CMarEng MIMarEST with the topic "Unleashing the Potential of IoT Applications with 5G Technology Integration: A Review". This speaker discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) can facilitate research in the field of architecture by utilizing the integration of 5G technology in Internet of Things (IoT) applications. The explanations and thoughts presented by Ts. Dr. Mohd Azlishah Bin Othman is expected to provide insight to students and lecturers to explore the potential of the latest technology in their research.
The FAST UNPRI public lecture event was closed with the hope that this activity will provide great benefits for UNPRI in the future. With the collaboration between universities, lecturers and students are expected to produce innovative research and higher quality scientific publications, thus encouraging UNPRI to become a better and more accomplished educational institution at the international level.
