Universitas Prima Indonesia once again showed its concern for humanitarian action by holding a blood donation event on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. This event took place on the 10th Floor of the UNPRI Main Campus, Jalan Sampul 4, Kota Medan. This activity was held together with the Indonesian Red Cross of Medan City in the context of implementing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Humanitarian Project Program. .
The blood donation activity which took place from 08.00 to 12.00 WIB managed to collect around 300 donors from various levels, including lecturers, students, and the UNPRI academic community. In fact, the general public also participated in this event. This blood donation activity is a real manifestation of UNPRI's concern for humanity and is a concrete manifestation of the participatory social action of the UNPRI academic community in their role as volunteer donors. This blood donation event is a very important momentum in showing UNPRI's concern for humanity and also as concrete evidence of the active participation of the UNPRI academic community in their role as volunteer donors.
In line with UNPRI's Socio-Technopreneurship vision, which emphasizes the importance of making a positive contribution to society, this blood donation activity is not only an act of humanity, but also an act of solidarity with fellow human beings. UNPRI emphasizes the role of universities as active agents of social change.
Not only in terms of humanity, blood donation also has a positive impact on the health of donors. Some of the medical benefits that can be obtained from blood donation include weight loss, protection against heart health, increased red blood cell count, stroke prevention, improved psychological health, blood cell regeneration, reduced risk of rare diseases, reduced risk of cancer, increased blood production, mental stability, and reduced cholesterol levels in the body. This is an additional reason why blood donation activities should be supported and promoted widely.
UNPRI plans to schedule blood donation events regularly, namely every three months, in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Medan City, especially the PMI Medan Petisah District. This step is not only an effort to maintain public health, but also as part of an effort to promote humanitarian values that are always prioritized by UNPRI. Thus, UNPRI continues to play a role as a driving force for positive change in society.
