Strengthening Global Networks, UNPRI Explores Strategic Collaboration with Kainan University Taiwan Across Academics and Creative Media
Accelerate Academic Exchange, Research, And Creative Media Industry Development Globally.
Medan, August 5, 2026 — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) continues to expand its international partnerships by welcoming an official delegation from Kainan University, Taiwan, on Tuesday (August 4, 2026) at the UNPRI Main Campus. This strategic meeting focused on cross-disciplinary cooperation to elevate academic excellence and global networking.
The Kainan University delegation included Liu, Chi-Lun, Dean & Director of the School of Informatics and Department of Film and Creative Media; Tseng, Jhih-Yuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Film and Creative Media; Tang, Yu-Yen, Assistant for the USR Project – AI New Vision Era; Luong Syen Meile, Admissions Executive from the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs/Chinese Language Center; along with accompanying film and creative media students. They were warmly received by UNPRI Vice Rector III for Research, Innovation, and Development, Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., alongside university deans, bureau heads, and institute leaders.
During the discussion, UNPRI Vice Rector III Refi Ikhtiari expressed optimism that the partnership will encompass collaborative research, educational advancement, and student exchange programs. Both institutions extensively explored joint research initiatives, student mobility, and cultural immersion programs to reinforce their academic synergy.
Furthermore, the UNPRI Faculty of Medicine proposed collaborations in healthcare, leveraging Kainan University's School of Healthcare for joint educational and medical competency development. Creative media cooperation also took center stage, focusing on project collaborations between Kainan’s Department of Film and Creative Media and UNPRI's Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program through student creative works and academic engagements.
During the visit, Kainan University introduced the New Image Multicultural Film Festival as a platform for students to produce creative video works centered on Indonesian culture. The program is open to UNPRI students with free registration until October 5, 2026. As a concrete follow-up, Kainan University will draft and submit a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) via email to serve as the institutional foundation for future collaborative programs.
