North Sumatra's Favorite Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, UNPRI, Holds Professional Oath-Taking Ceremony for Nurses and Midwives
UNPRI affirms its commitment to producing professional health workers through the professional oath-taking process for nurses and midwives.
UNPRI, Medan – The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), a leading faculty in North Sumatra, once again made academic history by holding the inauguration and professional oath-taking ceremony for nurses and midwives. The event took place smoothly on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Mini Hall, 10th floor of the UNPRI Main Campus, Jalan Sampul, attended by various professional organizations and the academic community.
The ceremony was attended by UNPRI Vice Rector IV, Dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, MKT, MKM, Sp.KKLP (K)., Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr. Tiarnida Nababan, S.S.T., S.Kep., Ners, M.Kep., representatives of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) of North Sumatra Province, the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) of North Sumatra Province, and religious leaders from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Their presence symbolized full support for the birth of professional healthcare workers from UNPRI.
A total of 257 graduates were officially inaugurated and took their professional oaths. They consisted of graduates from the Professional Nurse Program and the Professional Midwife Program. The oath-taking procession was conducted solemnly, guided by religious leaders according to each graduate’s faith, marking the beginning of great responsibilities to be carried out.
In his remarks, UNPRI Vice Rector IV, Dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, MKT, MKM, Sp.KKLP (K)., emphasized that the professional oath is not merely ceremonial, but the beginning of a journey of service grounded in knowledge, integrity, and conscience. He stressed that nurses and midwives are the front line of public healthcare services, requiring a strong commitment to uphold professional ethics.
Meanwhile, the representative of PPNI North Sumatra, Mahsur Al Hazkiyani, S.Kep., Ners., expressed his hope that UNPRI nursing graduates would make real contributions to the national healthcare system. Similarly, the representative of IBI North Sumatra, Betty Mangkuji, SST, M.Keb., reminded that midwives play not only a role in childbirth but also as companions for women’s and children’s health as a whole. Both encouraged UNPRI graduates to be ready to face global challenges in healthcare.
Through this event, the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at UNPRI—originally established in 2001 as the Prima Academy of Nursing and Midwifery, later becoming the Prima Husada School of Health Sciences in 2002, and officially transformed into Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) in 2005—reaffirmed its commitment as a socio-technopreneurship-based campus excelling in producing professional healthcare workers.
