Preparing Future Careers: UNPRI and Disnaker Medan Host Strategic Training for Job Seekers
A Strategic Collaboration between UNPRI and the Medan City Government to Accelerate the Absorption of Skilled Labor for the Younger Generation.
MEDAN — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), as the best and leading private university in North Sumatra, has once again demonstrated its commitment to preparing high-quality graduates ready to compete in the job market. In collaboration with the Medan City Manpower Office (Disnaker), UNPRI organized a Pre-Employment Preparation Training at the UNPRI Main Campus Mini Hall, Jalan Sampul 3, Medan, on Thursday (5/2/2026).
The event was attended by approximately 350 students in semesters 7 and 8 from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FKKG), Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB). UNPRI alumni also participated to strengthen their preparation for the professional world. The training featured three main agendas: CV Writing Training, Career Planning Training, and International Labor Market Socialization. These materials were designed to provide comprehensive tools for job seekers facing the challenges of the professional world.
UNPRI Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized in his speech the importance of thorough preparation before entering the workforce. "When looking for a job, a high GPA is not enough; a good attitude and professionalism are essential," he asserted. Refi added that UNPRI has established the Career Entrepreneurship Development Center (CEDC) as a service center for student and alumni career development. "Our CEDC is ready to support student career growth through strategic cooperation with the Medan City Manpower Office. UNPRI always facilitates alumni to promptly secure employment matching their competencies," he said.
UNPRI invited competent speakers from various institutions to ensure training quality. Fahmi Ananda, S.Psi., M.Psi, Psychologist, Head of the Competency Assessment Center at the University of North Sumatra and Chairman of P3M Faculty of Psychology USU, led the CV Writing session. Participants were taught techniques for creating CVs that capture recruiters' attention, from format selection to highlighting personal strengths. Harold Hamonangan, S.E., Head of the Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP3MI) North Sumatra, presented materials on International Labor Market Socialization, providing deep insights into overseas job opportunities, necessary procedures, and the rights of Indonesian migrant workers.
For Career Planning Training and domestic labor market information, Disnaker Medan presented two Junior Expert Career Counselors: Faisal Amri Tampubolon, SE., M.Si and Bezanolo Harefa, SE., M.Si. Both explained current labor market conditions, effective job search strategies, and tips for the recruitment process. The Head of UNPRI CEDC, Arie Pratania Putri, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., attended alongside Deans and Heads of Study Programs to ensure all academic members received equal opportunities for preparation.
This collaboration with Disnaker Medan is a form of triple helix collaboration between universities, government, and industry. The Vice Rector III revealed that this training is part of a larger career development series. "This activity will continue with a Job Fair on February 10th. Students and alumni will have the direct opportunity to meet recruitment companies from various industrial sectors," Refi stated. Through CEDC, UNPRI ensures maximum support for professional success, focusing on soft skills, networking, and mental readiness.
