UNPRI PSDKU Pekanbaru Opens Golden Opportunities for Riau’s Young Generation Toward a Professional and Character-Driven Future
UNPRI’s Commitment to Delivering Quality Education to Prepare Competent and Competitive Young People of Riau
UNPRI, Pekanbaru – Since its opening in 2023, the Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU) of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) in Pekanbaru City has continued to show rapid development as a leading center for higher education in the Lancang Kuning Land of Riau Province.
UNPRI PSDKU Pekanbaru brings a new spirit to higher education with the vision of producing young Riau generations who are professional, innovative, adaptive, independent, moral and character-driven, possess a socio-technopreneurship outlook based on IT, and can compete globally. Its presence marks a historic step as UNPRI became the first Private Higher Education Institution (PTS) from North Sumatra to successfully open a branch campus outside the province.
The establishment of UNPRI PSDKU Pekanbaru was supported by various key figures from the beginning. Riau Governor Edy Natar Nasution, represented by the Head of the Riau Provincial Education Office, Kamsol, together with the Rector of Universitas Prima Indonesia, Prof. dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., AIFO-K., officially opened the PSDKU on Monday (07/10/2023), witnessed by a number of national and regional officials such as Dr. Lukman, S.T., M.Hum. (Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology), Prof. Syaiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D. (Head of LLDIKTI Region I), and Prof. Dr. H. Syafrinaldi, S.H., MCL. (Chairman of APTISI Region X-B).
Their presence affirmed the belief that UNPRI’s presence in Pekanbaru would make a real contribution to the advancement of human resources in Riau Province, which consists of 10 regencies and 2 cities. These regencies include: Kuantan Singingi, Indragiri Hulu, Indragiri Hilir, Pelalawan, Siak, Kampar, Rokan Hulu, Rokan Hilir, Meranti Islands, and Pekanbaru (the capital city).
UNPRI PSDKU Pekanbaru is located at Jl. Harapan Rayan No. 1, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, and currently offers six excellent study programs:
- Bachelor of Medicine,
- Bachelor of Management,
- Bachelor of Psychology,
- Bachelor of Information Systems,
- Medical Professional Education, and
- Master of Public Health (M.Kes.), which is the first Master of Public Health program in Pekanbaru City.
With a combination of health sciences, business, technology, and psychology, UNPRI PSDKU Pekanbaru is a strategic choice for the younger generation who wish to obtain quality higher education without having to leave the region.
Director of the UNPRI Pekanbaru Campus, Dr. Salman Faris, S.Si., M.M., stated that UNPRI PSDKU is present to meet the needs of the evolving job market and support the equitable distribution of higher education in Indonesia. “We are committed to continuously improving academic quality, strengthening accreditation, and adding new study programs relevant to the needs of the Riau community. UNPRI graduates are expected to be individuals who are innovative, adaptive, creative, and possess a socio-technopreneurship outlook based on IT, with good morals and character,” he said.
One of the strategic steps currently being undertaken is the construction of a modern UNPRI Pekanbaru hospital, targeted for completion in 2027. This hospital will function as a public health service center as well as a clinical learning facility for medical students and other health programs. This integration of academics and clinical practice is expected to enrich students’ learning experiences and improve the quality of medical personnel in Riau. With these facilities, UNPRI Pekanbaru has the potential to become a modern education and health service center in Riau Province, which is famous for its rich Malay culture, arts, and traditions. The province is also known as an economic and trade hub, especially in the oil and gas sector.
“In the future, UNPRI Pekanbaru will become a symbol of advanced higher education in Riau,” added Dr. Salman. “Through strengthening infrastructure, improving academic quality, and cross-sector collaboration, we are optimistic that UNPRI PSDKU Pekanbaru will be able to make a significant contribution to regional development.”
Currently, the leadership team of the study programs at the Pekanbaru campus consists of experienced academics, including Dr. dr. Surya Hajar Fitria Dana, Sp.P. (Head of Bachelor of Medicine and Professional Doctor Study Programs), Williya Meta, S.E.I., M.M. (Head of Bachelor of Management Study Program), Beby Astri Tarigan, S.Pd., S.Psi., M.Psi. (Head of Bachelor of Psychology Study Program), Aland Folma Naek Sihombing, S.Kom., M.Kom. (Head of Bachelor of Information Systems Study Program), and Dr. Hartono, S.K.M., M.Kes. (Head of Master of Public Health Study Program) who collectively drive UNPRI PSDKU Pekanbaru to be the primary choice campus for the younger generation of Riau, leading to a professional, independent, and character-driven future.
