Making History! UNPRI Officially Becomes the First Private University in Indonesia to Earn International IAAHEH Accreditation for Its Medical Education and Medical Profession Programs
A Visionary Milestone as UNPRI Leads Indonesia in Achieving World-Class Medical Education through Its First-Ever International Accreditation
Medan, December 2025 — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) officially recorded a new history in national health education. UNPRI successfully attained International Accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH) for its Bachelor of Medicine Study Program and Professional Doctor Study Program.
This prestigious achievement positions UNPRI as the first private university in Indonesia to obtain such international recognition. This simultaneously affirms UNPRI's status as a Private University Going Global and a pioneer in the development of modern medical education in the country.
The international accreditation process took place from September 8–11, 2025. The assessment was comprehensively conducted by the IAAHEH assessor team, consisting of health experts, led by Prof. Dr. dr. Dedi Afandi, DFM., Sp.FM., Subsp. EM(K)., MM., MARS. The assessor team carried out a comprehensive field survey over four days. They visited UNPRI's academic facilities and educational partners, including RSU Royal Prima Medan, Prima Vision Eye Hospital (RSK Mata Prima Vision), as well as network Public Health Centers (Puskesmas).
In-depth assessment covered the curriculum, educational facilities, network hospitals, lecturer quality, academic governance, student readiness, and graduate quality. After undergoing the strict process, UNPRI was declared successful and entitled to receive the international accreditation.
This success is the result of strong leadership from the Dean of the UNPRI Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. dr. H. Gusbakti Rusip, M.Sc., Sp.KKLP., Subsp.FOMC(K)., PKK., AIFM., AIFO-K., along with all lecturers, educational staff, students, and hospital partners who worked hard to meet all the assessment standards set by IAAHEH.
The Rector of Universitas Prima Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., stated that achieving this International Accreditation is proof that the quality of UNPRI's medical education is globally recognized. “This IAAHEH International Accreditation is world recognition of the educational quality we have built. This is not just an administrative achievement, but legitimacy that UNPRI is capable of meeting and exceeding international medical education standards,” she revealed. She added that this success will open up wider international cooperation opportunities, enhance the institution's reputation, and provide great benefits for both students and graduates.
The Chairman of the UNPRI Higher Education Foundation (YPTPI) Daily Supervisory Board, Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, SH., M.Kn., also expressed high appreciation for this monumental achievement. “UNPRI's success in achieving IAAHEH International Accreditation is an important milestone marking UNPRI's major transformation as a modern university ready to compete at the global level. As the first private campus in Indonesia to obtain this international accreditation, UNPRI has proven its quality and commitment to delivering excellent and world-standard health education,” affirmed Prof. Tommy.
