"From the survey it is also known that the average loss is 3.86 working days/person/year. So the loss due to toothache is Rp. 652,655,085,000,-/year", he said.
In between her general lectures, Siti Hartati also invited FKG Unpri students to study seriously. So that the knowledge gained in college can be applied in society. "A dentist should not be afraid to be placed anywhere", she said while expressing pride in the enthusiasm of Unpri students studying dental and oral health.
Dentists can provide consultation to the community on how to carry out dental care.
In this case, Siti Hartati explained about the national dental and oral health policy in accordance with Law No. 36 of 2009, especially Article 93 (1) Dental and oral health services are carried out to maintain and improve the health of the community in the form of improving dental health, preventing dental diseases, treating dental diseases, and restoring dental health by the government, regional governments, and/or the community which is carried out in an integrated, integrated and sustainable manner.
Then Article 94, the government and regional governments are required to guarantee the availability of personnel, service facilities, tools and dental and oral health medicines in order to provide safe, quality and affordable dental and oral health services to the community.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FKG Unpri, Prof. Dr. drg. Monang Panjaitan, M.S., M.A., added that Indonesian dentists must be able to appear as human resources guided by quality health manpower, if they do not want to be left behind by foreign dentist colleagues who are starting to arrive in Indonesia.
Panjaitan said that according to the demands of the ASEAN market, every profession must have a registered competency (STR) in the country of origin, which is approved by ASEAN countries.
"The lesson we can learn from the past is that people behave by seeking treatment when they feel sick or seeking treatment when it is too late. Because of that, there has been a tendency for an increase in dental and oral diseases in the last 20 years. And this has a very significant impact on society, such as impaired chewing function, speech and aesthetic disorders," he said.
The event ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office and FKG Unpri and the handover of souvenirs.
