Speech and Debate Contest Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UNPRI
Friday, November 25, 2011 FKIP Unpri held a Speech & Debate Contest. This is an event that aims to explore the talents of Unpri students while also participating in celebrating National Teachers' Day. The competition was held for 2 days starting from November 24-25, 2011 at Campus 2 Unpri which was divided into preliminary rounds and final rounds.
The various themes set by the committee were successfully presented by the participants quite well and satisfied the judges and listeners. For the final round, the speech contest theme was “Popularizing Indonesian traditional cultures in the midst of today’s trend”, while the debating theme was “Social Network (Facebook & Twitter) gives bad effect on teenagers”.
In this event, the committee chose three judges, they were: Gordon Wagirin Sendjaja, S.H., M.Hum., LL.M from the Faculty of Law, Dame Augustina Sitanggang, S.S. from the Faculty of Economics, and Anna Stasya Prima Sari, S.Pd. from the UNPRI Language Center. "This competition is not only assessed from the language aspect but also from the performance and suitability of the topic with the material spoken by the participants," said Anna.
The event attended by various faculties turned out to be very popular with students so that when they heard about this contest, UNPRI students immediately registered themselves as participants. As a result, only 6 speech participants and 5 debate groups made it to the final round.
Dag..dig..dug..tadaaa.. Finally, the winner of the speech contest was Stefvy from the Faculty of Law, Winni from the Faculty of Economics, and Marylyn from the Faculty of Psychology, as well as the winner of the debate contest from the Faculty of Psychology and the winner from the Faculty of Law.
"It must be improved further. Don't be easily satisfied and arrogant, because above the sky there is still a sky. Don't be like a frog in a coconut shell, stay humble like rice knowledge", said the Chairperson of the Committee Sri Ninta.

“Starting next year, we will make this event an annual event and we will also invite students from high schools throughout North Sumatra, especially Medan, and will also hold this event for various universities in Medan”, said Drs. Arif Sukhairil Daulay, M.Pd. as the Secretary of the Committee and added by Yanti Siburian, A.Md. as the Treasurer of the Committee.
