UNPRI Gives Ramadan Gifts to Orphans as a Form of Gratitude

The Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) extended family expressed their gratitude in the month of Ramadan by inviting orphans from several orphanages in Medan to come to the campus to receive gift packages.
"We routinely distribute Ramadan gift packages to orphans like in previous years," said Vice Rector III Said Rizal SHI MA representing UNPRI Rector Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting MKes in his remarks at the distribution of Ramadan/Lebaran packages for Medan City Orphanages 2022 on the Jalan Sampul Medan campus, Monday (25/4/2022). According to him, the month of Ramadan should be used as a momentum to be grateful for the blessings of health, sustenance and age.
"We must be able to be people who are good at being grateful for our prime health and for giving us our age to this holy month of Ramadan, so that we can carry out the fasting worship properly," he said. He said that this activity can foster unity and togetherness as well as devotion to the community.
The Chancellor also expressed his gratitude because the orphans and the orphanages and other institutions that were invited were willing to attend the UNPRI campus. He said that usually UNPRI holds a breaking of the fast together and invites orphans. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, breaking the fast together in the month of Ramadan was canceled. "However, we still carry out sharing activities as a form of our gratitude," he said. On behalf of UNPRI, Said Rizal asked the orphans to pray for the progress of this university. He also hopes that the gifts received by the orphanage children can be useful.
Committee Chair Salman Faris SSi MM said that gratitude makes you happy, not because you are happy then you are grateful. "A grateful person will always be positive and give their best in various aspects of life," he said. In his report, Salman said that the recipients of the gifts in the activity themed UNPRI Cares for Orphans were orphanages and orphans managed by mosque administrators and the Indonesian Blind Association (Pertuni) totaling 24 institutions. The details are 17 Islamic orphanages throughout Medan City, 5 mosques that provide for orphans, and 2 Pertuni orphanages (province/city of Medan) located on Jalan Sampul.
The recipients of the UNPRI Ramadan Care for Orphans packages were the Orphanage on Setia Budi Street, Medan, Marhamah Orphanage on Garuda Sikambing Street, Al Wasliyah Orphanage on Pinang Baris Street, Bumi Nusantara Orphanage on Perjuangan Setia Budi Street, Gaperta Ujung Orphanage, Orphanage on Sunggal Kanan Street, Al Wasliyah Pulo Brayan Orphanage, Zending Orphanage on SM Raja Street, Aisyiah Princess Orphanage on Santun Street, Mamiyai Orphanage on Bromo Street, Bani Adam Orphanage on Mangaan III Street, Mabar, Indonesian Blind Association (Pertuni) Province on Sampul Street, Medan City Pertuni on Sampul Street, Muhammadiyah Boys Orphanage on Amaliun Street, Al Amin Medan Krio Mosque on Asahan Deli Serdang Street.
Then, a group of orphans managed by the Nurul Huda Mosque on Sei Street Mencirim, a group of orphans Nurul Iman Jalan Berantas Medan Krio, Al Wasliyah Orphanage Jalan Ismailiyah, Arridho Orphanage Jalan Bajak IV, Darul Aitam Orphanage Jalan Medan Area Selatan, Muhammadiyah Orphanage Jalan Tuba. Gift packages were also given to a group of orphans managed by Mutia Mosque Jalan Marindal 1. Head of BPH UNPRI Dr Tommy Leonard SH MKn added that this activity was carried out as UNPRI's concern for others and to increase the values of brotherhood. According to Tommy, sharing is happiness. "True happiness is when we share with others," he said.
