To improve the quality of education in the Universitas Prima Indonesia environment and further develop quality research and community service, LPPM (Institute for Research and Community Service) UNPRI held a socialization and coaching clinic event. The event "Socialization of Research Scheme and Coaching Clinic Proposal for Fiscal Year 2023" was held at the UNPRI Main Campus Hall, Jalan Sampul 3, Medan City on Friday, March 31, 2023.
This socialization and coaching clinic activity invited Professors from the University of Riau and Members of the Research and Community Service Guidelines Compilation Team of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Director General of Vocational Studies, Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, Prof. Dr. Saryono, M.Sc. as resource persons and speakers. The ranks of the UNPRI rectorate and directors who attended the event were the Vice Rector III of UNPRI, Said Rizal, SHI, MA, Head of LPPM UNPRI, Edy Fachrial, S.Sc., M.Sc., CIQaR, representatives of deans, heads of study programs, heads of bureaus and around 80 permanent lecturers in UNPRI.
In his remarks, the Vice Rector III of UNPRI expressed his appreciation to Prof. Dr. Saryono, M.Si who has taken the time to share his knowledge and expertise to ensure the quality of UNPRI lecturers' proposals that will apply for Dikti grants.
"Enthusiasm for the lecturers, UNPRI lecturers are indeed very enthusiastic about participating in this research grant, this cannot be separated from the guidance of Prof. Dr. Saryono who has contributed to sharing his knowledge at UNPRI. He has been a speaker at UNPRI several times, but this is the first time at the UNPRI integrated campus." said Said Rizal.
The Head of LPPM UNPRI stated that the DRTPM Research Scheme is an annual DIKTI agenda which now uses the BIMA platform in proposing DRTPM grant proposals which used to be Simlitabmas. Therefore, in compiling research and proposals, tips and tricks are needed so that lecturer proposals can be funded and pass DIKTI grants. UNPRI is currently registered in the Madya Cluster and can submit Beginner Lecturer Research (PDP) for young lecturers. In this event, there were around 20 draft research topic proposals from UNPRI lecturers reviewed by Prof. Dr. Saryono, M.Sc.
In his presentation, this UNRI Professor emphasized that in essence, making a proposal is different from writing a thesis, dissertation or dissertation because it aims to obtain funding. In order for a research proposal to be approved and receive funding, a researcher must first understand the funding scheme. In the context of the research we are discussing now, he added that research is expected to not only have an impact on education but also on the social and economic sectors.
Current research emphasizes problem-solving research, and the direction of research determination towards applied research/research, so that in the latest Dikti policy, the research must be solution-oriented and adaptive through a five-year road map. Then, the research must be innovative, there must be benefits not only academically but also for stakeholders, who are the users.
In compiling a proposal, research lecturers are encouraged to be able to understand what the national research priorities are that are being developed. He added that there are five priority areas of national research that can be chosen, including Green Economy (Agriculture), Blue Economy (Maritime), Digital Economy, Strengthening Tourism and the Ministry of Health.
At the end of the socialization, he gave tips and tricks to UNPRI lecturers who would submit proposals, namely (1) prepare the proposal well, both in substance and narrative, then (2) determine the topic to be researched according to the five priority areas of national research and (3) be consistent on the topic and try to think about the research roadmap.
Some of the questions asked regarding the presentation of the material were (1) does the output of the PDP, apart from journals, also have to include Intellectual Property (KI)? (2) has research by superior lecturers not been conducted/included in postgraduate research? (3) what do we need to present so that the state of the art is clear?
After the socialization event and presentation of material from Prof. Dr. Saryono, M.Si, the activity was continued with a review session and clinical coaching of proposals that had been prepared by UNPRI Lecturers.
WR III UNPRI is optimistic that by presenting Professor of Riau University Prof. Dr. Saryono, M.Si who has a lot of experience in DRTPM research grants, UNPRI lecturers can create qualified research proposals and pass DIKTI grants to obtain research funding.
