The 2nd ICOLIFEMED 2025 UNPRI Presents 6 International Speakers, 405 Papers, and 3,100 Participants from 8 Countries
This global-scale forum places UNPRI at the forefront of academic institutions driving research synergy, knowledge exchange, and the development of multidisciplinary innovations at the international level.
A mood of high enthusiasm and positive energy filled the main hall on the 10th floor of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Campus, Jalan Sampul No. 3 Medan Petisah, on Tuesday (11/11/2025), during the UNPRI 2025 international conference activity.
As scheduled, the second day featured The 2nd International Conference on Lifestyle Diseases and Natural Medicine (ICOLIFEMED) 2025, which was officially opened by Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., accompanied by Vice Rector I for Academic and Information Systems, Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., FITPM, FITAR, AITSP, MCF, MTCNA. This conference serves as a new magnet for the global academic and health world, initiated by UNPRI, an excellent and socio-technopreneurship campus.
This year, ICOLIFEMED 2025, chaired by Dr. Santy Deasy Siregar, SKM., M.Kes., the newly inaugurated Dean of the UNPRI Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK), featured six international speakers from four countries: one from Japan, two from China, one from Malaysia, and two from Indonesia.
This world-scale event is the result of collaboration among three UNPRI Study Program Management Units (UPPS): the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FKGK), the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery (FKK), and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK), with full support from the Foundation and Rector Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., AIFO-K, who continues to push UNPRI towards international accreditation in 2026.
In his speech, Refi Ikhtiari, Ph.D. affirmed that ICOLIFEMED is a strategic platform that brings together academics, researchers, clinical practitioners, policymakers, students, and stakeholders across nations. “We aim to build a global research network and cross-disciplinary collaboration. This year, eight countries are actively participating, with a significant increase from the previous year. The number of scientific articles has risen from 180 papers in 2024 to 405, while the number of participants has jumped nearly fourfold from 800 to 3,100 participants, presenting 57 research posters. The support from all parties makes ICOLIFEMED not just a scientific forum but also a space for cross-national collaboration,” he explained.
Carrying the grand theme “Integration of Healthy Lifestyle and Natural Medicine in the Prevention and Management of Modern Diseases,” ICOLIFEMED 2025 addresses the rising issue of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. The conference highlights the importance of a comprehensive approach based on healthy lifestyles, balanced nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and the synergy between modern medicine and natural remedies.
As the opening speaker, Letjen TNI (Purn.) Prof. Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, Sp.Rad (K) presented the topic “Application of Immunotherapy Nusantara for Lifestyle Medicine in Indonesia.” He emphasized the importance of Nusantara immunotherapy in redefining modern health, stating that true health is the balance of the immune system.
He was followed by Prof. Dr. dr. Arfianti from Universitas Riau, who discussed “Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Based Therapy for Liver Fibrosis.” She explained in detail how advancements in stem cell or mesenchymal stem cell-based therapy can support liver repair and prevent the risk of fatal damage. “This therapy is important to optimize so that liver function is maintained early on, considering that liver disorders can carry a high risk of sudden death,” she said.
Meanwhile, Li Wei, Ph.D. from Shandong Drug and Food Vocational College reviewed the development of bioactive components from natural herbal ingredients through modern processing methods, which have proven effective in optimally supporting body health.
Equally engaging, Dr. Lizong Deng from Nanjing Medical University presented “The Next-Gen Health Advisor: Retrieval-Augmented AI in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention,” explaining the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the comprehensive prevention of cardiovascular disease. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Azwany Yaacob from Universiti Sains Malaysia discussed Lifestyle Modification and Community Empowerment, highlighting that a healthy lifestyle must start with community awareness and policies that favor prevention. Prof. Dr. Ryo Tanaka from Chiba Institute of Science, Japan, closed the session with the topic “Sudden Death Due to Cardiac Arteriosclerosis,” emphasizing the dangers of plaque buildup in the arteries and the importance of early detection and rapid response to increase patient survival chances.
Through this conference, UNPRI affirms its role as a center for innovation and health and education development, both nationally and globally.
