dr. Sofyan Tan Gives Tips for Success as an Entrepreneur
The Faculty of Economics (FE) Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) on Sunday (24/1) held the 5th Entrepreneurship Festival - 2016 UNPRI with the theme 'Energetic and Creative Entrepreneurs'
The opening of the event was marked by a ribbon cutting by Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission X, Dr. Sofyan Tan, who is also the advisor to UNPRI Medan. The event was attended by the Head of BPH UNPRI Dr. Tommy Leonard S.H, M.Kn, advisor to UNPRI Medan Dr. RE Nainggolan, M.M, UNPRI Rector Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI., DAAK., Dean of the Faculty of Economics UNPRI Cut Fitri Rostina, S.E., M.M, Vice Dean of FE UNPRI Hendry, SE., M.M and Coordinator of Global Prima National Plus School Dr. Willy Tanjaya S.H., S.Kom., M.Kn
On that occasion, Dr. Sofyan Tan gave motivation to students who participated in the Entrepreneurship Festival. The bespectacled man also gave tips on becoming a successful entrepreneur to participants and thousands of other visitors. He explained that there are 5 tips for becoming a successful entrepreneur, namely 4 M + ICT
In this case, said Sofyan Tan, we must know the market (what the market needs and wants), must be able to manage/strategize business activities (management), must have good morals and then need money. "After mastering the 4 M above, then we need Computer Information Technology (ICT). Then additionally, we must pay attention to conduciveness, namely all regulations required by the government, including what permits must be taken care of, a sense of security in doing business, infrastructure, loans from banks and promotions", he said
According to this white-skinned man, Entrepreneurs must have a universal soul, respect the diversity of tribes and religions and cultures. Sofyan Tan, who was asked to provide motivation to high school/vocational school students and college students, when talking about entrepreneurship, he emphasized discipline. "Entrepreneurship is run by people who can generate income. So when starting a business, you have to discuss how to make money. And when you are successful, you have to be able to become a social entrepreneur, namely the business must be useful and have a positive meaning for the community at large", he said.
After officially opening, Sofyan Tan also visited all the stands. He and the other group discussed with participants/stand owners who participated in the bazaar, about raw materials, manufacturing constraints, business prospects for the products sold, including providing input on the business in question. Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the committee Cut Fitri Rostina., S.E., M.M, in her speech said, the 5th Entrepreneurship Festival 2016 with the theme "Energetic and Creative Entrepreneurs", is expected to motivate and explore the interests of students and college students to become entrepreneurs. Cut Fitri explained, the activities carried out at the 5th Entrepreneurship Festival 2016 include, business plan competition, product bazaar, product exhibition, pension and live band
Participating Bazaar and Competition Teams that participated were SMA Global Prima National Plus School, SMA N 1 Labuhan Deli, SMK Pangeran Antasari, SMA WR Supratman 1, SMA Negeri 15 Medan, SMA Medan Area, STIE A & BI, UISU and Students of the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Law, FKIP, FKM, FTIK. From the assessment results of three judges, namely Cut Fitri Rostina SE MM, Muhammad Agung Anggoro, S.E., M.Sc., and Juliana, S.E., M.M., emerged as the winners of the first, second and third place winners of the student category of the equivalent results of the Business Plan competition at the Entrepreneurship Festival Period V of the Faculty of Economics, UNPRI, Academic Year 2015-2016. First place winner Rizki Utami (UNPRI), second place winner Riadi Adi SP (UISU) and third place winner Fanny Villanday (STIE A&BI)
While the winners of the first, second and second place winners of the High School Student Category of the equivalent results of the Business Plan competition. First place winner Fitra Asyiva Salsabila (SMA Global Prima), second place winner Yenty Melysa Shienny Wijaya (SMA WR Supratman) and third place winner M Fikri C Hasibuan (SMK Pangeran Antasari) Meanwhile, in a separate place, the Head of BPH UNPRi Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., stated that he strongly supports the activity. Because the goal is to explore and motivate the entrepreneurial spirit of students in Medan City and North Sumatra
