On Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Simpul Tumbuh Building, Universitas Islam Indonesia Yogyakarta. The Chairperson of the Innovation Development Institute of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), Herbert Wau, SKM., MPH., CHCSA, and Bagus Panuntun, S.E., MBA., CBC, representing the Business and Innovation Incubation of Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), officially signed a Cooperation Agreement (MoA) with the aim of advancing collaboration in the development of innovation, entrepreneurship, and the implementation of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka. The MoA signing ceremony was also attended by Dr. Ir. Arif Wismadi, M.Sc. (Director of Entrepreneurship Development & Development/UII Growth Node), Namira Ufrida Rahmi, SE., M.Si, CJAT (UNPRI Quality Management Unit Manager), and Beby Astri Tarigan, S.Pd., S.Psi., M.Psi (UNPRI MBKM Manager).
The signing of this MoA is concrete evidence of UNPRI and UII's commitment to presenting innovation and entrepreneurship as important elements in higher education in Indonesia. This MoA is also a strategic step that is expected to help realize Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka better.
Herbert Wau explained that UNPRI has succeeded in obtaining a grant from the Merdeka Campus Competition Program (PKKM) with a focus on the theme of the Humanitarian and Entrepreneurship Project. One of the main focuses of this program is the development of a business incubator on the UNPRI campus environment which requires close collaboration and synergy between various parties involved in the campus ecosystem. This includes the vital role of lecturers as mentors and knowledge providers, students as parties who will realize innovation, and external parties such as business actors who bring valuable experience. Herbert Wau emphasized that only with strong support and cooperation from all these parties, the development of business incubators at UNPRI can succeed in becoming one of the pillars of education that will have a positive impact on the growth of entrepreneurship and innovation.
The presence of business incubators is expected to provide real benefits for students. In this context, business incubators provide wider access for students to turn creative ideas into tangible business projects. They will receive guidance and support from experts in their fields as well as opportunities to collaborate with experienced entrepreneurs. Furthermore, business incubators also act as a forum that allows students to explore practical aspects of the world of entrepreneurship, such as business planning, financial management, and marketing. All of this provides a better opportunity for students to achieve success in the business world in the future, in line with the vision of UNPRI Sociotechnopreneurship which encourages students to become individuals who are able to play a role in the social, technological, and entrepreneurial fields and are ready to face various challenges in the future.
