Regional Academic Collaboration Toward Globalized Education: UNPRI Strengthens Asian Intellectual Networks to Drive Innovation and Sustainable Educational Transformation
As the best and leading campus in the western region of Indonesia, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) once again demonstrates its commitment as an excellent socio-technopreneurship campus by hosting an international Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in the main meeting room on the 10th floor of the UNPRI Campus, Jalan Sampul No. 3 Medan Petisah.
This activity is part of the series of four prestigious international conferences organized by UNPRI towards the end of 2025, serving as an important academic forum for strengthening global collaboration and cross-disciplinary knowledge exchange.
Global Delegates Discuss Cross-Disciplinary Innovation
This international FGD serves as a strategic platform for academics, researchers, and professionals from 4 international campuses across 4 countries, including Indonesia, to discuss current issues in the fields of social science, culture, health, science, and technology. Through this scientific meeting, UNPRI reinforces its role in promoting global research innovation and collaboration, in line with its vision toward a "World Class University" and a center of knowledge in the ASEAN region.
The delegates attending this FGD come from various renowned global universities, including:
- Prof. Dr. Ryo Tanaka from Chiba Institute of Science, Japan;
- Prof. Dr. Nor Azwany Yaacob from Universiti Sains Malaysia;
- Prof. Dr. Yamamoto and Prof. Watanabe from Toyama University, Japan;
- Lizhong Deng, Ph.D. from Nanjing Medical University, China.
The meeting was led directly by Refi Ikhtiar, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., UNPRI Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni and concurrently the Chairman of the International Conference, accompanied by Vice Rector I for Academic and Information Systems Dr. Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom., FILM, FITAR, AITSP, MCF, and the deans from the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FKKG), Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK), Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery (FKK), and Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST). The moderator for the event was Muhammad Aditya Kurnia, SKM., MPH., Ph.D.
Research Focus and Commitment to Tangible Follow-Up
In a relaxed and friendly FGD atmosphere, delegates, including those from UNPRI, took turns presenting and discussing the strengths of their respective faculties in terms of knowledge and infrastructure that could be synergized for impactful research collaboration and academic cooperation. The discussion focused on potential cooperation in the fields of health, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and biomedical technology, as well as multidisciplinary innovations relevant to global needs.
In his directive, Refi Ikhtiar emphasized the importance of concrete follow-up after the FGD. “To all attending UNPRI academicians, I stress that follow up must be done after this event, both through email and further communication, so that the signed MoU and MoA are truly implemented in the form of real cooperation,” he firmly stated. This statement demonstrates UNPRI’s commitment to maintaining productive, sustainable international academic collaboration.
After the FGD, all participants continued with a welcome dinner at the mini hall on the 10th floor of the UNPRI Campus, which took place in a warm and intimate atmosphere. The evening agenda served as a moment to strengthen inter-university relations and prepare for the opening of the international conference scheduled to begin on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, featuring a series of international-standard scientific activities.
With a spirit of collaboration and the vision of global international accreditation in 2026, the implementation of this international FGD is a crucial part of UNPRI's journey toward global recognition as an excellent university that makes tangible contributions to the advancement of science and human development.
