Medan, August 21, 2025 – Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) has once again demonstrated its role as a leading socio-technipreneurship campus in North Sumatra. Through the Undergraduate Electrical Engineering Study Program, students are guided not only to understand electrical theory and technology, but also to design and build robots that can be applied in various industrial fields, including healthcare and everyday life.
The Undergraduate Electrical Engineering Study Program at UNPRI is under the Faculty of Science and Technology, along with several other study programs such as Civil Engineering, Architecture, Visual Communication Design, Information Systems, Informatics Engineering, and Industrial Engineering. The study program is led by Winner Parluhutan Nainggolan, S.T., M.Kom., as Head of the Study Program, under the direct guidance of the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Ir. Bhakti Alamsyah, MT., Ph.D.
Through an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum integrated with industry needs, UNPRI's Electrical Engineering students are encouraged to produce real-world, technology-based work. One such approach is through robotics design practicums, which provide students with a platform for integrating electrical concepts, programming, and automated system design. "We want students to not only excel in class, but also be able to produce innovations that provide real benefits," said Winner.
Full support from the faculty and university allows students to develop creativity in the engineering field. The Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Ir. Bhakti Alamsyah, MT., Ph.D., emphasized that UNPRI always provides space for students to experiment and create technological solutions. "Robots are a concrete example of how electrical engineering can be applied. Our students learn to become problem solvers using a socio-technipreneurship approach," he said.
In addition to robotics, UNPRI Electrical Engineering students also receive training in electrical power systems, solar system technology, electronics, telecommunications, and artificial intelligence (AI). Collaborations with industry, particularly with Royal Prima Hospital, UNPRI's own teaching hospital, and collaborative research with lecturers and community service programs enrich the students' experiences. In this way, UNPRI graduates are expected to be ready to compete in the workforce and start businesses based on electrical and robotics-based technology.
The presence of the UNPRI Undergraduate Electrical Engineering Study Program underscores the university's commitment to producing a superior, adaptive, and creative generation for the digital era. With a spirit of socio-technipreneurship, students are not only expected to become professionals but also to dare to innovate and create works that benefit the wider community.
