Prima Nusantara Closing Ceremony: UNPRI Reaffirms Commitment to Facilitating Student Innovation and Talent Through Artworks
A Tangible Form of UNPRI's Dedication to Providing a Creative Platform and Preserving National Heritage to Nurture Globally Competitive Talents.
Medan – The Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) together with the UNPRI Marketing unit held the Closing Ceremony of a solo exhibition and live painting titled "Prima Nusantara: Silent of Heritage Live Painting by Tika" on Saturday (Mar 14, 2026), at the 10th Floor Lobby of the UNPRI Main Campus, Medan. The event was attended by the Rector of UNPRI, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., Vice Rector I to Vice Rector IV, Deans, Heads of Study Programs, and about 100 attendees from various faculties within UNPRI. This proves UNPRI's commitment as a campus that continues to innovate in facilitating student talent.
The three-day activity featured Tika Gohtama, a 6th-semester DKV UNPRI student, painting live on a 1.5m x 1.5m canvas with the object "Mosaic of the Archipelago"—a composition blending North Sumatran local cultural icons like Gorga motifs or Rumah Bolon, archipelago elements like wayang, batik motifs, or Balinese dancers, as well as a modern DKV touch. The entire process was broadcast live via TikTok Live at @joinunpri and @dkvunpri. This initiative shows UNPRI's role in supporting student creativity through digital technology.
The first day was themed "Root of Culture", focusing on sketching and dialogue. The second day was themed "Colors of Indonesia", displaying intricate details with live interaction. The third day was the climax themed "The Soul of Heritage", closed with gold color accents as a symbol of the glory of Indonesian culture.
Rector of UNPRI, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, expressed pride and reaffirmed the university's commitment. "UNPRI fully supports the development of student talent and facilitates every aspect of their creativity," she said. She added that Tika's work is a representation of UNPRI students' spirit in preserving heritage. "We are committed to continuing to provide space for students to explore their potential to the maximum," she asserted.
The event continued with the symbolic handover of the painting to the Rector. Head of the Committee and Head of the DKV Study Program, M. Fikri Akbar Zuhdi, S.Ds., M.Ds., stated that such events will be held often as a showcase for DKV UNPRI talents. "We want to show that our students are not only technically competent but also have high cultural sensitivity," he added.
