UNPRI HOLDS SEMINAR ON ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND MANAGEMENT Managing the Impact of Health Facility Waste on Public Health

Head of the Medan City Environmental Agency (BLH) Arief S Trinugroho said that the City BLH realizes sustainable development that is environmentally aware. This was stated at the Seminar on Environmental Protection and Management in the Field of Health Service Facilities, held by the Faculty of Medicine (FK) of Universitas Prima Indonesia (Unpri), Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Faculty of Public Health (FKM) and Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery Unpri at the Danau Toba Hotel Medan, Monday (6/15).

The event was attended by MA Daulay, SKM., (representing the North Sumatra Health Service), Prof. Rahman Zein, Head of BPH Universitas Prima Indonesia (Unpri) Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., Unpri Chancellor Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI., DAAK., Vice Chancellor II Ermi Girsang, SKM., M.Kes., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) Dr. H Yulitas Bachtiar, SpA., Dean of FKG Prof. Dr. drg. Monang Panjaitan, M.S., M.A., Dean of Faculty of Technology and Computer Science Abdi Dharma S.Kom, Dean of FKM Santy Deasy siregar, SKM., M.Kes., and Vice Dean I of FK Unpri dr. Ali Napiah Nasution.

"The development of world cities exceeds carrying capacity, including in the provision of infrastructure," said Arief S Trinugroho. According to Arief, in this case, policies and commitments are needed for sustainable development, which are environmentally aware. Realizing sustainable development, said Arief, must pay attention to the utilization of the environment and its environmental sustainability, so that environmental quality is maintained, where environmental sustainability that is not maintained will cause environmental carrying capacity to decrease, or even disappear.

Meanwhile, regarding Natural Resources today, he said, it is not a legacy. But rather a trust from our children and grandchildren.

Arief also added that national economic development as mandated by the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia is carried out based on the principles of sustainable and environmentally friendly development.

"The declining quality of the environment has threatened the sustainability of human life and other living things, so that serious and consistent environmental protection and management are needed by all stakeholders," said Arief convincingly.

As we know, he said, that environmental permit holders are obliged to comply with the requirements and obligations contained in the environmental permit.

Meanwhile, Prof. Rahman Zein PHD., explained about Waste Management from Health Service Facilities. According to him, the program for disposing and processing biomedical waste will not be successful if it is not followed by motivation and cooperation.

Prof. Rahman also mentioned, if we want to protect environmental damage and protect those who work in various fields of health sciences, then we must pay attention to the health of all and the environment.
