Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Prima Indonesia University 2019
Dean: Teachers must be able to be mentors, facilitators, motivators and inspirators
The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Prima Indonesia (FKIP UNPRI) was filled with emotion and happiness. A total of 77 students, namely 43 people from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program and 34 people from the English Language Education Study Program, were declared entitled to hold a bachelor's degree through the graduation activity. Graduation is one of the important aspects concerning the journey of students because through this activity, prospective graduates receive the determination of graduation and are ready to proceed to the graduation implementation stage.
The graduation activity held at the Multipurpose Building of the Royal Prima General Hospital, 5th floor (06/09/2019) was also attended by lecturers and structural members of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, including the Head of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program Sri Dinanta Ginting, S.Pd., M.Pd. Head of the English Language Education Study Program, Natalia Widya Pasca Tarigan, S.Pd., M.Hum and also attended by Dian Syahfitri, S.S., M.Hum as the dean and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Petrus Purwanto, M.Pd.
In his speech, the Dean of FKIP UNPRI stated that the function of teachers in the era of disruption is different from teachers in the previous era, namely shifting to the function of instilling ethical values, character, wisdom, experience, and social empathy because these functions cannot be performed by machines. There is a revolution in the role of teachers who were originally a source of learning or knowledge providers must now be able to become mentors, facilitators, motivators, and inspirators in developing imagination, creativity, character, and work teams in the younger generation needed in the future.
Moreover, facing the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, teachers must not only be able to convey knowledge but also be skilled in using technology to realize the implementation of teaching so that it is responsive to rapid technological developments. Graduates of Indonesian and English language teaching can utilize technology features as innovative learning media that are oriented towards products such as language debate videos, literary performances and others.
"My message and all of ours to all graduation participants, that your Dharma Bakti has been awaited by your family and society and the country, never stop learning because learning resources are not only from lecturers and campuses, but from all problems, difficulties, the surrounding environment, to technology are also learning resources for your success. Be a teacher who is ready to welcome the Industrial revolution to educate the nation's life!" said Dian Syahfitri, S.S., M.Hum as the dean. Hopefully the male and female graduates of FKIP UNPRI can carry out this mandate.
