UNPRI and BRIN Hold Socialization of Research-Based Learning Program
BRIN Talent Management Directorate Program
Medan Campus – Medan, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) held a socialization of the Research-Based Learning Program, Monday (21/2/2022). The socialization was attended by approximately 700 participants from students, lecturers and other structural officials starting at 13.00 WIB to 14.30 WIB virtually.
Director of the BRIN Talent Management Program, Arthur Lelono MT, said that the number of researchers in Indonesia currently reaches 12,000 people, of which 90 percent are lecturers. However, his party realizes that the quality of Indonesian researchers is not yet so encouraging. "Therefore, BRIN opens up collaboration as widely as possible with anyone, with any institution, including with Indonesian universities. Masters and doctoral students who want to do research for their theses and dissertations can register with BRIN to obtain funding, as long as the topic is relevant to the topic we are developing and will collaborate with a specific research team at BRIN. But keep in mind that BRIN does not provide scholarships, but study assistance for 4 semesters for Masters and 6 semesters for Doctoral programs, and the final assignment is completed together with the BRIN research team," he said.
According to him, the Research-Based Learning Program is an assignment given by the Civil Service Development Officer to ASN and other HR to improve competence through formal education based on research, development, and/or studies of science and technology without leaving official duties. Arthur Lelono added that there are a number of BRIN work programs. However, those directly related to the campus include the Research Assistant Program, Visiting Researcher Program, Post-Doctoral Program and BARISTA Program (Research Talent and Innovation Assistance, with the note that the Co-Promoter must be from BRIN for Degree by Research.
Arthur further explained that his party has opened up opportunities for research internships for active students in the odd and even semesters of 2021/22 in order to support the MBKM (Independent Learning Independent Campus) Program in universities. Of course, if successfully accepted for an internship at BRIN, the university of origin will provide equivalent credits of up to 20 credits. According to him, the research funding scheme is intended for human resource development (www.manajementalenta.brin.go.i, www.byresearch.brin.go.id), facilitating research funding (www.pendanaanrisnov.brin.go.id), and local development acquisition (www.linktr.ee/akredit.brin.go.id).
The research fields that offered quite a lot, including the Physics Research Center (Puspiptek, Serpong) in the field of Optoelectronics and Control, the Informatics Research Center (Bandung, Coblong) in the field of Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Information Retrieval, the Electric Power and Mechatronics Research Center (Bandung, Coblong) in the field of Power Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Vibration Electric, Energy Conversion and Conservation, the Testing Technology Research Center (Puspiptek-Serpong) in the field of Electromagnetic Applications and EMC Test Method Systems.
"And many more. For requirements, required study programs, scope, and more detailed schedules, please check the BRIN link directly. There is also an opportunity to do internships at the link. All BRIN programs can be followed/collaborated with any institution without having to sign an MoU with BRIN, except for MBKM," he said.
UNPRI Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting MKes expressed his appreciation to the Director of the BRIN Talent Management Program, Arthur Lelono, for his willingness to convey information and socialize the Research-Based Learning Program to the UNPRI academic community. "If all public officials such as BRIN officials welcomed positively and responded quickly to input from the public, I am sure that many more new innovations could be produced," said the UNPRI Chancellor.
The UNPRI Chancellor was also interested in signing an MoU with BRIN and then submitted the intention at the meeting in question, so that UNPRI students and lecturers could take advantage of the BRIN program in an effort to improve their competence. The UNPRI and BRIN MoU plan submitted by the UNPRI Chancellor was welcomed by Arthur Lelono, who promised to immediately follow up on the proposal. (RED/MBB)
