Public Lecture and Certificate Presentation by the Head of BNSP to LSP UNPRI
A Public Lecture "Socialization of Competency Test Certification" was held with speaker Kunjung Masehat, S.H., M.M, Chairperson of the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP) on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the UNPRI Main Campus Hall, Jalan Sampul 4.
Competition in the business world and industry (DU/DI) is getting tighter with the large number of graduates graduating each year, something that is not comparable to the limited job opportunities offered.
In his remarks starting the public lecture, UNPRI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting Mkes stated that in this era of the industrial revolution 4.0, a diploma alone is not enough if it is not balanced with soft skills and competencies.
To prepare UNPRI graduates to face the business world and the industrial world, since 2020 UNPRI has pioneered the Professional Certification Institute (LSP), a supporting institution for BNSP which is responsible for implementing professional certification registered by BNSP.
The second speech by the Head of LSP and Vice Rector I of UNPRI, Abdi Dharma M.Kom explained that LSP has obtained a BNSP license with 5 schemes to improve student competency to be competitive in the world of work.
This competency certificate aims to improve the quality of alumni competency, in the future, UNPRI graduation requires 1 competency certificate for prospective graduates and is targeted to have 3 proofs of competency certificates in 2025.
Regarding the development of LSP, Abdi Dharma targets that each study program has a special competency certification that is in line with UNPRI's vision, namely entrepreneurship.
Continuing to the presentation of the public lecture, Masehat stated that BNSP, in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) 10 of 2018, as an independent institution was formed to carry out work competency certification. Competency certificates are a topic of discussion in the national industrial method related to the significance and strategic function of the competencies of new graduates in the industrial era 4.0
The Diploma Companion Certificate (SKPI), he continued, is a parameter for placing the qualifications of new graduates within the framework of Human Resource development in Indonesia in particular.
Regarding the employment profile, Masehat explained that every year there are an average of 2.5 million graduates both at the high school/vocational school and university levels, all of whom compete to get jobs in the business world and the limited industrial world.
"The problem is, the competitiveness of our graduates is still not tested in the international arena, even at the ASEAN level we are still inferior to Malaysia and Vietnam," said Masehat.
Competent HR is one of the foundations of the nation's progress. By following current developments, in the era of globalization, it is realized that the competitiveness of our HR still needs to be improved. The importance of improving human resources in the future is very relevant to the development of the world, especially when facing industry 4.0, all must prepare a competitive workforce.
Masehat added that a competency certificate is a legal product that becomes legitimacy or proof of recognition of a person's ability to do certain jobs set by the competent authority, based on competency standards that have been agreed upon and set.
"In the world of work, mastery of both soft and hard skills is very important so that an institution is needed that specifically guarantees the competence of alumni to be competitive and competent," he continued
At the end of his general lecture, Masehat motivated the students who attended the event at the UNPRI Main Campus Hall regarding the world demographics in 2035 which is moving to generation Z, a generation that is expected to be able to contribute to the nation and have a competitive spirit in the global arena.
"Congratulations on the establishment of LSP UNPRI, hopefully with Certification it will become a guarantor of Quality for certified students as proof that the person concerned is Competent in their field," said Masehat.
This public lecture was attended by UNPRI Rector Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting M.Kes, WR I Abdi Dharma MKom, WR II Prof. Dr. Ermi Girsang M.Kes, WR III Said Rizal, M.A, representatives of deans, heads of study programs, heads of bureaus, staff, educators and students.
The event ended with a symbolic handover of licenses to the Professional Certification Institute and a group photo session.
