Building Sustainable Cooperation, UNPRI Receives a Visit from China's Yangtze Normal University
Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) has established an academic relationship with Yangtze Normal University of China to strengthen international collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchange.
Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) welcomed a delegation from Yangtze Normal University (YNU). The meeting was held on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, in the Main Meeting Room of the UNPRI Campus, Jl. Sampul No. 3, Medan.
The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions and to discuss further collaboration opportunities in education and research, particularly student exchange as well as joint and double degree programs. The meeting also discussed registering UNPRI as a host institution for the development of a Confucius Institute in North Sumatra.
The delegation from Yangtze Normal University included:
- Wu Wen (Vice Rector)
- Huang Dongmei (Director, Office of International Exchange and Cooperation)
- Li Xuexun (Dean, School of Foreign Languages)
- Sun Yinhua (Dean, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture)
UNPRI was represented by Vice Rector I, Dr. Abdi Dharma, M.Kom., acting on behalf of the Rector, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., who was unable to attend. Also present were Vice Rector II, Prof. Dr. Ermi Girsang, M.Kes.; Vice Rector III, Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Vice Rector IV, Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, MKT, MKM, Sp. KKLP (K); and UNPRI’s deans. The meeting was also attended by the Chair of the Daily Executive Board of the Prima Indonesia Higher Education Foundation, Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., as well as representatives from Prima Group.
Vice Rector I, Dr. Abdi Dharma, M.Kom., opened the meeting with a warm address, reaffirming UNPRI’s commitment to intensive collaboration that not only benefits both institutions but also strengthens ties between nations through the exchange of knowledge and culture.
“Today’s visit is an important moment to reinforce the cooperation that has been established between our institutions. This collaboration reflects our belief that education and culture are the best bridges for working together and innovating to achieve Indonesia’s aspirations,” he said.
Echoing this, YNU Vice Rector Wu Wen emphasized the importance of knowledge and cultural exchange as a vehicle for inter-institutional collaboration. He noted that cooperation between UNPRI and YNU has been ongoing since 2023, beginning with UNPRI alumni pursuing further studies in China.
These exchanges have laid a strong foundation for close cooperation and are the main reason to further enhance collaboration through student exchanges and the development of joint and double degree programs between the universities.
“We believe that the exchange of knowledge and culture is the best pathway for building future collaborations between our universities. Today’s meeting is very important for strengthening our partnership in sustainable educational and cultural development,” said Wu Wen.
UNPRI’s Vice Rector IV, Dr. dr. Ali Napiah Nasution, MKT, MKM, Sp. KKLP (K), then outlined potential forms of collaboration, affirming that UNPRI is open to all forthcoming initiatives in both academic and socio-cultural fields.
UNPRI warmly welcomed YNU’s proposal regarding the registration of UNPRI as a host for the development of a Confucius Institute in North Sumatra, which will not only enhance Indonesia–China relations but also create job opportunities for graduates and the broader community.
Through this visit, UNPRI reaffirmed its commitment to expanding international partnerships and improving the quality of education and culture through student exchange, student mobility, advanced curriculum development, and joint and double degree programs.
The partnership meeting between UNPRI and YNU is expected to mark the beginning of sustainable and productive cooperation that benefits academic development, research, and the enhancement of student and faculty competencies at both institutions.
