FKKGIK UNPRI Holds Public Lecture on Human Papilloma Virus
The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, Universitas Prima Indonesia (FKKGIK UNPRI), held a public lecture on Skin and Venereal Health entitled "Human Papilloma Virus, Diagnosis and Challenges of Therapy Management, Promotion-Prevention and Efforts to Suppress HPV Infection Recurrence", Monday (3/6/2025) in the Main Hall, 10th Floor, UNPRI, Jln.Sampul No. 3 Medan.
The public lecture featured the Chairperson of the Indonesian ENT-KL College as a resource person, Prof. Dr. dr. Farhat, M.Ked(ORL-HNS), Sp.T.H.T.B.K.L, Subsp. Onk(K). According to Prof. Dr. dr. Farhat, M.Ked (ORL-HNS), HPV is a virus that belongs to the Papillomavirus group. Anogenital Warts (genital warts) are ranked 3rd in Outpatient Visits at 13 Primary Teaching Hospitals (RSPPU) in Indonesia.
Prof. Dr. dr. Farhat added that the most cases occur in men, productive age 21-25 years, and especially in homosexuals. Other at-risk groups are sexually active women and men, especially those with limited knowledge about reproductive health are also at risk of infection.
Most patients are asymptomatic (no symptoms). The most common low-risk HPV infections are HPV types 6 and 11, which are shaped like a chicken's comb (candyloma acuminata).
"Some efforts that can be made to reduce the number of cases are providing education and information to teenagers, adults and at-risk groups, including education through social media, pamphlets and brochures, counseling. Early education will provide adequate knowledge for teenagers to comprehensively understand reproductive health, including sexually transmitted infections," he said.
The Public Lecture was attended by the Rector of UNPRI and staff, the Dean of FKKGIK UNPRI and staff, lecturers from the DVE department of FKKGIK UNPRI, Dr. dr. Prasetyadi Mawardi Sp.DVE, Subsp.Ven, FINSDV, FAADV (Chairman of the Indonesian Dermatology, Venereology and Aesthetics College), Dr.dr. Sri Lestari Ramadhani Nasution, M.K.M., M.Biomed (Lecturer at FKKGIK UNPRI) acted as moderator.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, Universitas Prima Indonesia (FKKGIK UNPRI), Prof. Dr. dr. H. Gusbakti Rusip, M. Sc., Sp. KKLP., Subsp. FOMC(K)., PKK., AIFM., AIFO(K), welcomed the Chair of the DVE Indonesia Collegium, and thanked her for her support for Universitas Prima Indonesia.
According to Prof. Dr. dr. H. Gusbakti Rusip, the public lecture was real evidence that UNPRI is very focused on presenting the best experts, in an effort to improve student knowledge and university development efforts. During the public lecture, the resource person also gave prizes of books written by himself to 3 students with the highest quiz scores,
