UNPRI Organizes MikroTik Academy to Strengthen Students’ Networking Competencies
Medan, September 19, 2026 — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) continues to strengthen technology-based learning through the implementation of MikroTik Academy, a computer networking education program that combines conceptual understanding with hands-on practice using MikroTik technologies.
The MikroTik Academy program at UNPRI is supported by Abdi Dharma and Rico Wijaya as instructors. Through classroom learning and laboratory practice, students are guided to understand networking fundamentals, configure devices, and develop skills in network management and troubleshooting.
Understanding MikroTik
MikroTik is a networking technology company based in Riga, Latvia. It is widely known for RouterOS and RouterBOARD devices, which are used for various networking purposes such as routing, firewalls, wireless networking, hotspots, VPNs, and bandwidth management.
RouterOS allows a network device to perform various administrative functions within a single system. Because of this, MikroTik technology is also widely used as a learning platform for understanding how networks are designed, configured, secured, and managed.
Learning Networking through MikroTik Academy
MikroTik Academy is an educational program intended for institutions such as universities, technical schools, and other educational organizations. Through this program, MikroTik RouterOS is used as a learning platform for students studying computer networking.
At UNPRI, students can develop competencies related to the MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA) curriculum, including IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP, routing, bridging, firewalls, wireless networking, bandwidth management, and network troubleshooting.
Learning is not limited to theoretical explanations. Students also perform direct configurations, allowing them to better understand how networks operate in real-world situations.
Throughout the process, Abdi Dharma and Rico Wijaya guide students from basic networking concepts and RouterOS configuration to device management and the analysis of network problems.
From Configuration to Troubleshooting
Through MikroTik-based practice, students can understand how devices obtain IP addresses, how routers determine communication paths, how internet connections are distributed, and how firewalls are used to manage and protect network traffic.
Students are also trained in troubleshooting. The ability to analyze configurations, check connectivity, identify the source of problems, and determine appropriate solutions is an important part of developing professional competencies in computer networking.
Supporting Students’ Professional Competencies
The presence of MikroTik Academy is one of UNPRI’s efforts to connect academic learning with practical technical skills. Networking knowledge serves as a foundation for various fields, including network engineering, system administration, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and server management.
The program also provides students with an opportunity to prepare for the MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA) certification as an additional complement to their academic and technical competencies.
Under the guidance of Abdi Dharma and Rico Wijaya, students gain opportunities to learn, experiment, perform configurations, and directly understand how network infrastructure is built and managed.
