FACULTY OF ECONOMICS UNPRI WON SECOND PLACE OF HOPE

Taxation Olympiad, April 25, 2014

The "OPJ" referred to here is not a rival of OVJ, but the real OPJ is the Tax Olympiad. On April 23, 2014, the Head of the Accounting Study Program, FE UNPRI informed Mr. Hantono as a taxation lecturer that the UMSU (Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra) campus was holding a seminar and Tax Olympiad. On April 25, 2014, Mr. Hantono confirmed that FE UNPRI would send 2 OPJ teams to UMSU.

On April 26, 2014, Mr. Hantono reported the names of the two teams to Mrs. Ivana and immediately registered the names of the two teams with the committee of the activity who came to the campus to record the names of the OPJ participants. On April 28, 2014, Mr. Hantono represented the two teams to conduct a technical meeting at the UMSU campus and then that evening Mr. Hantono gathered the two teams to conduct a briefing because the next day the Tax Olympiad (OPJ) was held. Exactly on April 29, 2014, the two UNPRI OPJ teams were ready to compete in the Tax Olympiad activity. 1 team from each campus consisted of 3 people. Team 1 OPJ UNPRI from several different semesters consisting of Imelda Sanjaya (semester 6), Selvia Fransiska Wijaya (semester 7) and Catherine (semester 4) and Team 2 OPJ UNPRI came from one class in semester 4 consisting of Kusnadi, Stella Tandean, and Linda. The total number of teams participating in the Tax Olympiad was 22 teams from 9 campuses participating in the event. In round 1, only 10 teams were selected to advance to round 2, then from round 2, 6 teams were selected to advance to round 3. Round 1 consisted of 100 questions within 60 minutes with a score of 4 (correct), -1 (wrong) and 0 (no answer). After round 1, all teams were asked to withdraw from the Olympiad location because the results of round 1 were immediately corrected by a jury from the Directorate General of Taxes. Once corrected, all participants were asked to return to their place and the jury announced the results obtained from all competing teams. Each team was nervously waiting for the jury's decision. The jury announced from the lowest to the highest score and when UNPRI team 2 was announced with a score of 99 in 19th place, how sad the second team was and they prayed that team 1 would enter round 2. The teams from other campuses had passed but team 1 had not yet arrived, when the second place from round 1 was read out, it was Team 1 Prima with a score of 178, then team 2 cheered happily with their supervisor, Mr. Hantono who was there during the Tax Olympiad and finally his team made it to round 2.

The Committee announced that round 2 would start after lunch, after lunch, team 1 Prima prepared themselves to enter round 2 with a more complicated level of difficulty than round 1, Mr. Hantono's direction to team 1 was to be careful in analyzing the questions and not to get trapped. Finally entering round 2, team 1 Prima moved to the same location as round 1 earlier. Time passed so quickly and finally the jury announced that the time for working on the questions was over and participants were allowed to leave the competition location. Entering round 3, the competition location was moved from the auditorium to building F of the UMSU campus. All participants who took part in round 2 were asked to occupy the places that had been prepared by the committee. The announcement was immediately read by the jury team. Entering round 3, only 6 teams were selected from 10 teams from round 2. The jury read the results of round 2 and corrected the mistakes of the competing teams and the jury said that the value obtained was the calculation of the value from round 1 plus round 2. Team 1 UNPRI was getting more and more nervous and so were the other teams. Finally, the decision that had been awaited arrived and when reading the order of 10 to 5, team 1 Prima became even more restless then when the jury read the order of 3 was ... , team 2 prayed that their friend would enter the top order and when it was announced that the order of 3 that would enter round 3 was team 1 Prima. Team 2 jumped for joy when they heard their friend enter the 3rd order. The jury has also announced the overall winners who will enter the 3rd round. Before entering the 3rd round, the six participants were given a break while preparing their materials for the presentation. This 3rd round does not look at the results of rounds 1 and 2. So this 3rd round is purely from the results of the presentation assessment with the provisions of content (30%), delivery method (30%) and mastery of the material (40%). Round 3 has started, the jury drew the lottery numbers. Team 1 Prima got the serial number 3. Before this tax olympiad activity, the slides for this 3rd round had been prepared in advance so that Team 1 Prima was no longer worried.

The topic for this 3rd round was only two titles given:

  1. Rights and Obligations of Taxpayers
  2. The Role of Taxes in the World of Education

Team 1 and 2 Prima had initially prepared their materials according to the direction of their supervisor, Mr. Hantono, S.E., S.Pd., M.Si to choose part a because they were more likely to master the material.

The break time for the six teams was over, the judges called the six teams to enter the competition room. It was time for number 3, team 1 Prima, to present the presentation title "Rights and Obligations of Taxpayers in Income Tax Article 22". After the presentation was delivered, the judges conducted a question and answer session on the presentation that was done. The six teams that entered round 3, in addition to delivering their presentations, were ready to be asked questions by the judges. Finally, the six teams had finished presenting each title given by the committee. It was time to hear the announcement from the judges. One by one, the judges criticized the teams that had advanced, although team 1 Prima received criticism from the judges and they accepted mistakes during the presentation. The long-awaited moment for the announcement of the winner has arrived. The jury read from the 6th sequence, when reading the 5th sequence was….. all team supporters felt anxious, whether their campus would be in 5th place. Then the jury reaffirmed the 5th sequence from Team 1 Prima. The jury said that even though it was the first time for the Prima campus to participate in this activity, they had succeeded in winning second place. Team 1 Prima was not discouraged when the announcement was read because they had shown their abilities in front of several teams competing from round 1 to round 2 and round 3. Although the preparation was very short, Team 1 Prima was able to bring glory to the name of UNPRI campus in the first Tax Olympiad activity they participated in. Once again, congratulations to Team 1 Prima, let the victory obtained by Team 1 be a motivation for their juniors in the future.
