UNPRI is Drug-Free
Dandim 0201/BS and UNPRI Ready for War on Drugs
MEDAN (Portibi DNP): Commander of the Military District Command or Kodim (Dandim) 0201/BS Medan City Colonel Inf. Maulana Ridwan SH together with the entire academic community of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) made a movement against drugs, and are ready to go to war against drugs.
This was stated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or joint understanding carried out between Dandim 0201/BS Col. Inf. Maulana Ridwan SH and the UNPRI Daily Management Board (BPH) Dr. Tommy Leonard SH MKn who is also the Dean of the UNPRI Faculty of Law, witnessed by the Chancellor Prof. Djacobus Tarigan, Vice Rector, Medan Petisah Sub-district Head Rahmat Harahap, lecturers, and students, in a Public Lecture on National Insight, in the multi-purpose room of Royal Prima Hospital, Jalan Ayahanda Medan, Friday (15/4).
"We from the ranks of the Indonesian Army regional command and as the Dandim of Medan City are also involved in handling the dangers of drugs. This is in accordance with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia who has declared war on drugs," he said.
Moreover, continued Dandim, in Medan City the circulation of drugs is quite high. This made Budi Waseso as the head of the BNN intervene in handling the drug problem in Medan City and asked the police, up to the Provincial BNN to be proactive in implementing drug prevention.
"In delivering this public lecture on national insight, it includes the dangers of drugs. Why is that? Because if our society is influenced by drugs, it will damage the soul itself. What will this country become in the future if its people are influenced by drugs or use drugs," he said.
Moreover, he said, the dangers of drugs can damage the user's organs, especially the brain. The human brain will not function properly if influenced by drugs, so that it becomes a behavior that is very far from proper community life.
"For that, on this occasion I appeal, especially to Unpri and Unpri students not to approach drugs, but stay away from drugs. If students become cadres in the eradication of drugs and know the dangers, hopefully they can invite their friends not to get involved in drugs," he said.
In addition, he said, in eradicating drugs, there needs to be coordination and cooperation between all parties, both the local government, BNN, Police and TNI AD, as well as the community, how to carry out prevention, so that the community is not involved and not influenced by drugs.
"Don't be afraid of the community because there are officers, but be afraid of the drug problem, it can destroy future generations. I hope that the community can participate in guarding against the possibility of drug trafficking in their respective areas," he said.
Meanwhile, Dean of FH UNPRI Dr. Tommy Leonard SH MKn in his speech at the National Insight public lecture said that talking about national insight is the Indonesian people's perspective on themselves and their environment prioritizing national unity and territorial unity based on Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, Bhineka Tunggal Ika, and the Republic of Indonesia.
"Responding to technological developments and the rapid shift in paradigms of thinking and the era of globalization, we need to prepare ourselves in responding to every change. Managing change must be done wisely and prudently so that there are no deviations in the social and state order," he said.P08
