Collaboration between UNPRI and BPMP North Sumatra: FAST-UNPRI Industrial Engineering Students Enhance Expertise in Educational Quality Management Systems
UNPRI, Medan – Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) continues to strive to provide comprehensive learning experiences for its students through industrial internship activities relevant to the needs of the professional world.
One such activity is realized through the Industrial Engineering Student Internship Program at PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV (PTPN IV) Regional II Adolina Unit, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra, which was conducted on July 4 and 11, 2024.
This activity is the result of cooperation between the UNPRI Industrial Engineering Study Program and PTPN IV Regional II Adolina Unit, as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, specifically in teaching and community service. Through this program, students are expected to directly understand the dynamics of industrial operations and develop technical skills relevant to the professional world.
During the internship, students had the opportunity to be actively involved in various important divisions within the factory environment, ranging from palm oil processing, Crude Palm Oil (CPO) quality control, human resource management, to machine maintenance and production systems. They also conducted observations and analyses of energy efficiency, production flow, and the application of technology in the agro-industry sector.
In addition to providing practical experience, this activity also strengthens students' abilities in applying concepts of Supply Chain Management, Quality Control, and Industrial Maintenance, which are essential foundations for an industrial engineer. Students learn how theories obtained in the classroom can be adapted to solve real-world problems.
This program is expected to be a strategic step in expanding collaboration between the academic and industrial worlds, particularly in the fields of plantation and agricultural product processing. UNPRI, through its Industrial Engineering Study Program, is committed to continually strengthening cooperation with various national companies, ensuring students gain experiences that are relevant, applicable, and have a direct impact on improving the quality of Indonesia's human resources.
