UNPRI Successfully Holds Joint Conference ICOLIFEMED and ICEBesMA

Medan, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) successfully held a Joint Conference: The 1st International Conference on Lifestyle Diseases and Natural Medicine (ICOLIFEMED) and The 2nd International Conference on Economics, Business, Management, and Accounting (ICEBesMA), Thursday and Friday (5-6/12/2024), at the UNPRI Campus Jln. Cover No.3 Medan.
This international conference was attended by 1000 participants, consisting of students from the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (FKKGIK), students from the Faculty of Economics (FE) UNPRI. Apart from that, it was also attended by around 40 delegates from various countries such as Japan, South Africa, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.
This event features Keynote Speaker Prof. Dr. Cheng Hwee Ming (University of Malaya), Invited Speaker-1 Prof. Dr. Wan Mohammad Zahiruddin (Universiti Sains Malaysia), Invited Speaker-2 Prof. Dr. Dr. Tengku Siti Hajar Haryuna, Sp. T.H.T.B.K.L., Subsp. N.O.(K) (University of North Sumatra), Invited Speaker-3 Masato Ebine, Ph.D. (Chiba Institute of Science, Japan), and also attended by important guests, namely the Chair of BPH YPTPI Prof.Dr. Tommy Leonard, SH., MKn, Deputy Chancellor I Dr (Cand.) Abdi Dharma, S.Kom., M.Kom, Director of Prima Group (RSU Royal Prima, RSGM, etc.).
In recent decades, there has been a growing phenomenon regarding the important role of lifestyle factors, such as diet, physical activity, and stress management, in preventing and managing various chronic diseases.
Lifestyle medicine has emerged in response to this phenomenon, with a focus on empowering individuals and communities to adopt healthier behaviors. At the same time, there is increasing interest in traditional and natural healing approaches, which often emphasize integrating mind-body practices, herbal medicine, and other holistic therapies.
The event encourages researchers, physicians, policymakers and other stakeholders to explore lifestyle diseases and natural remedies and to discuss how these approaches can be integrated to address 21st century health challenges.
For this purpose, FKKGIK UNPRI is organizing The 1st International Conference on Lifestyle Diseases and Natural Medicine (ICOLIFEMED), which will be held on 5-6 December 2024, with the theme "Integration of healthy lifestyles and natural medicine in the prevention and treatment of modern diseases .”
Meanwhile, the theme of ICEBESMA 2024 is Leadership for Sustainability Issues in the Economic Sector, which is in line with the keynote speaker material, namely Leadership for Sustainable Economic Growth by integrating AI, policy and global collaboration.
Leadership in sustainability with AI refers to the application of artificial intelligence (AI), to drive sustainability initiatives to solve environmental, economic and social challenges, and ensure sustainable practices over the long term.
Key areas include optimizing energy use supply chain efficiency, environmental monitoring, predictive analytics for climate change, AI circular economy and ethical governance.
Government regulations significantly influence sustainability leadership, with countries with stricter environmental policies, such as the European Union, showing a proactive approach to sustainable economic practices, and analyzing the regulatory environment has a significant impact on leadership strategies, with strong sustainability regulations encourage aggressive implementation, while weaker frameworks slow progress due to a lack of incentives or enforcement mechanisms.
Therefore, effective leaders prioritize long-term sustainability over short-term economic profits, must anticipate future challenges and opportunities, and create an economic model that is resilient and able to adapt to changing conditions.
This activity was also attended by 40 foreign delegates (Japan, South Africa, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam). Meanwhile, domestic participants include ISEI Indonesia, Indonesia College of Medicine, Univ. North Sumatra, Indonesian Methodist University, Univ. Muhammadiyah North Sumatra, Prima Indonesia University, Adiwangsa University, Jambi.
Chair of the ICOLIFEMED 2024 Committee, Refi Ikhtiari, Ph.D, said that the event was successful thanks to the support of all parties, resulting in the collection of 180 scientific articles and 60 posters which will be published in various journals and International Proceedings indexed by Scopus/WoS. "This event is very good for establishing international standard research networks and is in line with UNPRI's vision towards international accreditation by 2026," he explained.
Meanwhile, Bona Hermanto Damanik (UNPRI Master of Management Student), who took part in ICEBESMA, said that the event gave him a new experience.
The theme "Leadership for Sustainability Issues in Economics," according to him, provides prominent insights to produce important leadership innovations, to deal with increasing economic problems and also environmental challenges.
"I am very proud to have the opportunity to present my research entitled The Influence of Capital Adequacy Ratio, Loan to Deposit Ratio, and Non-Performing Loans on Financial Performance with Credit Risk as an Intervening Variable in Bank Companies Listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange" , he said.
