LPPM UNPRI Holds Workshop on Journal Management and Assistance in Publication of Scopus Indexed Journals

UNPRI Ready to Produce Excellent Researchers Through Scopus Indexed Journal Workshop

Medan, LPPM Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) held a workshop on Journal Management and Publication Assistance for Scopus Indexed Journals and Increasing Publication Impact, Monday (3/2/2025) on the 18th Floor of the Industrial Engineering Lab, UNPRI Campus, Jln. Sampul No. 3 Medan, attended by 51 lecturers and other leadership elements.

Vice Rector III UNPRI, Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D, in his speech said that scientific publication is very important, as one of the performance of higher education and the career of lecturers.

"Scientific publication is actually not a difficult thing, as long as you know the science. Therefore, it is hoped that through this workshop, it can improve the understanding of lecturers and students in publishing their research results in reputable journals," he said.

In his presentation, the resource person Prof. Hery Purnabasuki, Drs., M.Si., Ph.D, Head of LIPJPHKI UNAIR explained that the quality of a university is determined by the quality of academic conversations, one of which is scientific publications produced by lecturers and students. "To publish research results requires commitment, hard work and synergy between institutional leaders, collaboration partners, academicians, institutions and related units as well as supporting devices," he said.

According to Prof. Ferry Efendi, Ph.D., Secretary of LIPJHKI UNAIR, collaboration between academicians is important to facilitate the implementation of research and publication, supported by various artificial intelligence tools that are currently popular, because publication is also one of the paths to improve a lecturer's career.

Dr. Dessy Harisanty, S.Sos., M.A. as the Coordinator of the Journal and Conference Division of LIPJPHKI UNAIR, provided tips to improve the quality of journals managed by the university. A university is expected to improve the quality of journals through increased accreditation and indexation.

Meanwhile, Ayu Lana Nafisyah, S.Pi., M.Sc., Ph.D., who is also the Coordinator of the LIPJPHKI Ranking Field explained the importance of ethics in scientific publications. "That in scientific publications there are ethics that must be adhered to by lecturers and students. Sanctions for violations of publication ethics, such as plagiarism, have been regulated in the National Education Ministerial Regulation no. 17 of 2010, so that scientific publication ethics must be understood by all lecturers and students," he said.

One of the workshop participants, Esra Perangin-angin, M.Pd, one of the journal managers at Universitas Prima Indonesia, stated that the material presented was very useful, especially for journal managers, because there was a lot of input obtained from the speakers in improving the quality of journal management at Universitas Prima Indonesia. "We hope that this activity can be carried out again more intensively in the future," he said.
