The Best and Leading Campus, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), Enters the Main Cluster 2026 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the Third Time

UNPRI, Medan – The announcement of the 2026 higher education clustering results—consisting of the Independent Cluster, Main Cluster, Middle Cluster, and Primary Cluster—was officially issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) on November 4, 2025. This publication is based on the Decree of the Director of Research and Community Service Number 0968/C3/DT.05.00/2025 dated October 28, 2025, regarding the Determination of Higher Education Clustering Based on Research and Community Service Performance.
In the results, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), a socio-technopreneurship university accredited “Excellent” by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), once again enters the Main Cluster alongside 222 other higher education institutions in Indonesia.
This year, the number of clustered higher education institutions has increased compared to the previous year. While last year there were 1,115 institutions, in 2026 the number rose to 1,159 institutions across various regions in Indonesia. The clustering results include 56 institutions in the Independent Cluster, 222 in the Main Cluster, 306 in the Middle Cluster, and 575 in the Primary Cluster. Higher education clustering is not a ranking system, but a mechanism for grouping institutions based on research and community service performance. The results serve as the basis for the development of the national research roadmap as well as strategic plans for research and community service. This system is expected to enhance research quality and cross-cluster collaboration to strengthen the contribution of higher education to sustainable national development.
Higher Education Clustering itself is a process of grouping institutions based on academic and non-academic performance qualifications to improve quality and collaboration among universities. The 2026 clustering is based on processed performance data from SINTA (Science and Technology Index) for the 2022–2024 period, verified by each university’s Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM). Assessment components include authors, affiliations, articles, research, community service, intellectual property rights, and books.
The list of higher education institutions is arranged alphabetically, without indicating rankings or score values. Institutions not included in the appendix are categorized under the Development Cluster (pre-qualification). The performance data measurement results for the 2026 higher education clustering can be accessed through https://sinta.kemdiktisaintek.go.id/ or https://bima.kemdiktisaintek.go.id/ under the Metrics Cluster menu on each institution’s profile page.
On this occasion, the Rector of Universitas Prima Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., AIFO-K, expressed gratitude and appreciation to the entire UNPRI academic community for their hard work and dedication, which has once again brought the university into the Main Cluster for the third time.
“This achievement serves as motivation for UNPRI to continuously improve its research and community service performance, and to stay committed to reaching a higher cluster. UNPRI has now become a center for impactful campus development in the fields of health and community, in line with the strategic policies of Kemendiktisaintek for the Western Region of Indonesia,” she said.
UNPRI has also become a center for studies and research on Hajj, Umrah, and religion, as announced by the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, S.E., M.E., during the international conference “The 3rd International Conference on Economics, Business, Management, and Accounting,” abbreviated as ICEBesMA 2025 UNPRI, held at the 10th Floor of the Main Campus of UNPRI, Jalan Sampul No. 3 Medan Petisah, on Tuesday (11/11/2025).
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Research and Development, through the Director of Research and Community Service, I Ketut Adnyana, who served as the Keynote Speaker at the conference, conveyed his appreciation and congratulations to all universities, including UNPRI, for their achievements in research and community service performance. “Hopefully this result will encourage further improvement in the quality of research and community service in the future,” he said.
With this clustering result, UNPRI is increasingly committed to developing innovation and strengthening competitiveness toward the Independent Cluster, as well as expanding cross-disciplinary research and community service collaborations.
