Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), established with authorization from the Minister of National Education No. 151/D/0/2005 on October 13, 2005, continues to drive innovation. In addition to forming partnerships with various industries and both national and international universities, UNPRI adopts the latest curriculum aligned with SKKNI SNPT and Outcome-Based Education (OBE). This foundation enables Prima Indonesia University to become an internationally accredited institution, broadening opportunities for students from across Indonesia and even from abroad, particularly ASEAN countries. Currently, 300 international students are enrolled at Prima Indonesia University, with the Faculty of Medicine standing out as a top choice.
With high integrity and a strong commitment to excellence, UNPRI upholds values of goodness, honesty, and unity in diversity (multicultural inclusivity). The university is dedicated to excelling in education, research, and community service (Tri Dharma of Higher Education). Founded by Lieutenant General (Ret.) Moetojib and Dr. dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister, M.Kes., AIFM, Prima Indonesia University establishes itself as a leading higher education institution in Medan, producing professionals and future innovators at both national and international levels.
UNPRI's journey began in 2001 with the establishment of the Prima Medan Nursing Academy and Midwifery Academy. In 2002, it evolved into Prima Husada Medan College of Health Sciences. Over the years, UNPRI has achieved remarkable academic and non-academic accomplishments at local, national, and international levels. With high-quality study programs and modern, well-equipped facilities, UNPRI remains the only private university in Sumatra offering a comprehensive range of programs from applied bachelor's degrees, bachelor's degrees, professional degrees, master's degrees, specialist programs, and doctoral degrees—spanning a total of 45 study programs across 8 faculties.
In addition to its main campus in Medan, UNPRI has also established an off-campus study program (PSDKU) in Pekanbaru, Riau Province. This campus currently offers six top study programs: Bachelor's in Medicine, Professional Doctor Education, Bachelor's in Management, Bachelor's in Psychology, Bachelor's in Information Systems, and a Master's in Public Health. Plans are in place to introduce additional undergraduate, master's, and specialist programs.
