Establishment of Universitas Prima Indonesia

On October 13th, 2005, UNPRI was officially established pursuant to the License of the Minister of National Education No. 151/D/0/2005. This milestone marked the beginning of UNPRI’s journey as a multicultural, inclusive, and progressive university. At its inception, UNPRI launched 12 study programs as a commitment to advancing higher education in Indonesia:

Development of the First Campus

The construction and development of UNPRI’s first campus marked a significant phase in the university’s early growth. These facilities included primary academic areas that served as the central venue for UNPRI’s first batch of students, alongside the development of dedicated sports facilities.

During this period, UNPRI opened the following study programs:

Expansion of Academic Infrastructure

UNPRI established a new campus building on Brigjen Katamso Street as part of a strategic expansion of its educational and technological infrastructure—supporting continued growth in student enrollment and academic programs.

Development of Teaching Hospitals

UNPRI established the Prima Dental and Oral Hospital as a teaching hospital to support academic instruction and related health programs, serving as a clinical education and training facility. In this year, UNPRI also opened:

• Bachelor of Dentistry
• Professional Dental Education Program
• Professional Nursing Program (Ners)

Establishment of Royal Prima Medan Hospital

The establishment of Royal Prima Medan Hospital marked a major milestone as the institution evolved into a referral hospital and a clinical training phase for medical students and other health-related professions. UNPRI introduced the Professional Medical Doctor Program, supported by a fully integrated university-owned teaching hospital.

Strengthening of Postgraduate Programs

UNPRI continued to enhance higher education quality in Indonesia by launching four postgraduate programs—strengthening interdisciplinary academic development:

• Master of Management
• Master of Accounting
• Master of Law
• Master of Indonesian Language Education

Diversification of Postgraduate Programs & Construction of the Main Campus

UNPRI further strengthened postgraduate education through the introduction of:

• Master of Public Health
• Master of Biomedical Sciences

Alongside this expansion, UNPRI commenced the construction of its Main Campus as a sustainable development of educational infrastructure with international-standard facilities.

As part of strengthening academic capacity and sustainable development of the health sector, UNPRI launched five strategic programs:

First Achievement of “A” Accreditation

UNPRI achieved its first “A” accreditation for the Bachelor of Medical Education Program and the Professional Medical Doctor Program— a historic step in strengthening academic quality.

In conjunction, UNPRI launched the Doctor of Management Program to strengthen doctoral-level education and scholarly development.

Main Campus: International-Standard Center for Education, Research & Collaboration

UNPRI inaugurated its Main Campus as a modern center for academic development. The 23-floor building was designed with an integrated facilities concept to comprehensively support education, research, and collaboration—featuring international-standard classrooms and laboratories, representative student areas, a guest house, a shopping mall, and a sky lounge for discussion and teamwork.

UNPRI strengthened its national and international reputation by being included in the QS Asia University Rankings with a global position of 1,491. Based on UniRank 2025, UNPRI ranked 244 nationally and 7,994 globally.

UNPRI became the first university in Indonesia to obtain International Accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH) for:
