UNPRI Hosts the 2026 Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) for Region I North Sumatra
UNPRI's Commitment to Facilitating Academic Excellence and Shaping the Future Leaders of North Sumatra.
Medan, April 28–30, 2026 — Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) Medan was honored to host the 2026 Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) for Region I North Sumatra, organized by LLDIKTI Region I. The event took place over three full days, from Tuesday to Thursday, April 28–30, 2026, at the UNPRI Main Campus on Jl. Sampul No. 3, Medan. A total of 69 top students from various universities across North Sumatra participated, consisting of 43 undergraduate students and 26 diploma students, all competing for a spot in the national-level Pilmapres selection.
The opening ceremony was held officially at the UNPRI Main Hall on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, attended by the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., along with the UNPRI academic community. In his remarks, the Head of LLDIKTI Region I North Sumatra, Prof. Drs. Saiful Anwar Matondang, M.A., Ph.D., expressed deep appreciation for UNPRI's role as the host. "We extend our sincerest gratitude to UNPRI for welcoming and facilitating the organization of this Pilmapres selection so exceptionally well over these three days. UNPRI's full support has been a vital part of this event's success," said Prof. Saiful. He also hoped that this event would produce the best students capable of representing North Sumatra with pride at the national level.
Vice Rector III of UNPRI, Dr. Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., welcomed this trust with gratitude and enthusiasm. "UNPRI feels proud and honored to be entrusted as the host for this year's regional Pilmapres. This is an opportunity we welcome wholeheartedly—not only as a host but as part of the North Sumatra higher education ecosystem that aims to continue growing together," he stated.
From all the participating candidates, the best will be selected to represent LLDIKTI Region I at the national Pilmapres with a quota of 4 undergraduate and 4 diploma students. The selection process was rigorous and comprehensive, covering assessments of scientific papers, academic and non-academic achievements, foreign language proficiency, and national insight—ensuring only the very best advance to the national stage.
LLDIKTI Region I's trust in appointing UNPRI as the host is inseparable from UNPRI's track record and capacity as one of the largest universities in North Sumatra. UNPRI holds the highest number of study programs within the LLDIKTI Region I environment, including 8 specialist programs, and has achieved International Accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH) for its Medicine and Medical Professional Programs—an achievement that reinforces UNPRI's commitment to global higher education quality standards.
The presence of 69 top students from various universities at the UNPRI campus served as a meaningful moment—not merely a competition, but a meeting space for high-achieving youth who will one day bring real change to the region and the nation.
