UNPRI Nursing and Midwifery Students Host Case Report Seminar at RSU Royal Prima
Addressing Incomplete Abortion from Two Professional Perspectives, Strengthening Interprofessional Collaboration
Medan, May 22, 2026 — Nursing and Midwifery students from Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) successfully held a Case Report Seminar at the RSU Royal Prima Hall, Medan, on Friday (May 22, 2026). The seminar focused on nursing and midwifery care for incomplete abortion cases, aiming to enhance students' clinical readiness in providing rapid, accurate, and empathetic care.
This seminar served as a concrete interprofessional learning space by examining real patient cases through dual professional lenses. From a midwifery perspective, the discussion covered clinical identification, surgical evacuation preparation (curettage or MVA), and post-abortion complication management. Meanwhile, the nursing perspective focused on addressing hypovolemia, pain management, and providing psychological first aid to patients and their families.
The interactive discussion highlighted the importance of the golden period in managing incomplete abortions in the ER to prevent septic or hypovolemic shock. Furthermore, participants emphasized the urgency of post-miscarriage family planning counseling and education for future pregnancy planning.
