Cultivating Resilient Planters: Faculty of Agriculture UNPRI Partners with KOPASGAT TNI AU for Two-Day Beginner Planter Program
UNPRI Agrotechnology and Agribusiness Students Trained by Elite Military Forces to Lead Indonesia's Palm Oil Industry
Medan, July 13, 2026 — The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) continues to demonstrate its commitment to producing graduates who are both academically excellent and mentally resilient. Through the intensive two-day Beginner Planter Program (P3) held on July 2–3, 2026, students underwent specialized mental, physical, and disciplinary training designed to meet the rigorous demands of the palm oil plantation industry.
The program is part of the Planters Leadership Development Program (PLDP), which integrates military-style field training into the curriculum. On the first day, the event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Suratni Afrianti, S.T., M.Si., at the UNPRI Danau Singkarak campus. Students were introduced to the realities of the modern plantation industry, which requires leadership, effective communication, and resilience under pressure.
The program reached its peak on the second day at the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) KOPASGAT headquarters in Medan. Under the guidance of elite military instructors, students underwent advanced physical and mental training, including discipline drills (PBB), rappelling, climbing, and mountaineering. These exercises tested their courage, focus, and ability to collaborate effectively under high-pressure scenarios.
Head of the Agrotechnology Program, Andry Admaja Tarigan, S.P., M.Agr., accompanied by the Head of the Agribusiness Program, Laura Juita Pinem, S.Si., M.M., noted that this training provides essential operational competencies. "We are preparing graduates ready to take on strategic roles, such as Plantation Assistants, with the grit and discipline required for success," he stated.
This synergy between the Faculty of Agriculture and KOPASGAT is a strategic step toward realizing the faculty’s vision of becoming a center of excellence for Agrotechnology and Palm Oil Agribusiness in North Sumatra by 2030. As an excellently accredited university, UNPRI is dedicated to facilitating academic talent to become future industry leaders. Further information is available at www.unprimdn.ac.id.
