North Sumatra Governor Appreciates UNPRI 9th Graduation Ceremony 2025

North Sumatra Governor Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, Prof. Terawan, and national figures attended UNPRI’s 9th Graduation Ceremony 2025. UNPRI reaffirms its commitment to producing adaptive, innovative, and work-ready graduates toward Golden Indonesia 2045.

Medan, 2025 Universitas Prima Indonesia – The Governor of North Sumatra (Gubsu), Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, stated that Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) has demonstrated its commitment to preparing graduates to enter the workforce. This was reflected in the signing of a Campus Hiring MoU between UNPRI and PT Basic International Sumatera on April 24, 2025, as a concrete step to bridge UNPRI students and alumni with the industry.

“This is real proof that UNPRI not only focuses on academic education but also on ensuring its graduates are relevant to industry needs,” said the Governor, represented by Vice Governor H. Surya, during UNPRI’s 9th Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday (1/10/2025) at the Main Campus, Jalan Sampul No. 3 Medan.

The North Sumatra Provincial Government, he added, remains committed to improving education quality, creating job opportunities, and strengthening the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship. “We hope that UNPRI graduates can become an important part of this development process,” he emphasized.

The Governor also gave messages to graduates: First, never stop learning because knowledge is always evolving. Second, use knowledge for good, so academic degrees bring benefits not only for oneself but also for society. Third, maintain integrity and character, because intelligence without honesty loses its meaning. Fourth, build networks and collaborations, as success today is the result of synergy with many parties.

Meanwhile, the Head of LLDikti Region I North Sumatra, Prof. Saiful Anwar Matondang, expressed his pride in UNPRI, which now has seven specialist medical programs: family medicine, radiology, ophthalmology, cardiology, obstetrics & gynecology, anesthesiology & intensive therapy, and internal medicine. “This achievement by UNPRI is truly remarkable in the field of medicine,” he said.

Prof. Saiful also appreciated the graduates who completed their studies on time but stressed that graduation is not the end, rather the beginning of the next journey.

Meanwhile, Presidential Health Advisor Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Prof. Dr. dr. Terawan Agus Putranto, Sp.Rad(K), stated that graduation is not the end of learning but the gateway to entering the workforce and applying knowledge. He encouraged UNPRI graduates to stay motivated in pursuing knowledge and to create new job opportunities. “Let’s move together toward Golden Indonesia,” said Prof. Terawan, who is also known as the expert behind the “brain-washing” therapy for stroke patients.

Prof. Terawan praised UNPRI for its excellence, as it already has seven specialist programs. “UNPRI is serious in showing its achievements in North Sumatra and supports the government by expanding facilities for doctors, specialists, and nurses,” he added.

Earlier, UNPRI Rector Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., reminded graduates that the world they face is changing very rapidly. The digital revolution, artificial intelligence, big data, and the green economy have transformed the face of work. Many old professions will disappear, but thousands of new ones will emerge, requiring multidisciplinary competencies.

“Therefore, be adaptive and innovative graduates, not only academically smart. Master soft skills such as leadership, communication, and collaboration. Uphold lifelong learning – never stop learning throughout life,” said Prof. Chrismis.

In line with these challenges, UNPRI continues to adapt through outcome-based curriculum strengthening, enhanced partnerships with industry, and the integration of technology into learning. The Rector is confident UNPRI graduates are ready to play roles as professionals, leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators.

“According to UNPRI’s vision: To become an Excellent University in Socio-Technopreneurship that is adaptive and innovative, I call on graduates to foster creativity, develop social entrepreneurship, and contribute meaningfully to society, the nation, and the journey toward Golden Indonesia,” she concluded.

Chairman of UNPRI’s Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., emphasized that UNPRI continues its sustainable efforts to enhance the tridharma, accreditation, and progress toward international accreditation. “We don’t stop at national ‘Excellent’ accreditation, but move toward global standards,” he explained.

The graduates conferred included Diploma, Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral programs. The graduation, held until Thursday (2/10/2025), was led directly by Rector Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes.

Also attending and delivering remarks were Presidential Health Advisor and UNPRI Academic Advisor Prof. Terawan, Head of LLDikti Region I Prof. Saiful, Regent of Labuhanbatu Utara Dr. Hendriyanto Sitorus, Police Chief of Parepare AKBP Dr. Arman Muis, Head of Department of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (UKM) Prof. Dr. Mohd Fauzi Mh Busra, Chief Scientific Officer of Cytohealth Holdings Dr. Daniel Looi Qi Hao, UNPRI Founder Prof. Dr. dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister, and Chairman of UNPRI Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard. Also present were vice rectors, deans, directors, faculty, staff, and the families of graduates.
