24th Anniversary of UNPRI: A Long Journey, UNPRI Stands as a Leading Private University in Indonesia
UNPRI Celebrates 24 Years of Educational Excellence with the Spirit of Socio-Technopreneurship
UNPRI, Medan – Gracefully dressed in a national kebaya, the Rector of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., AIFO-K., delivered an inspiring speech at the peak event of UNPRI’s 24th Anniversary on Saturday (October 18, 2025), held at the Main Hall, 10th Floor, Jalan Sampul Campus, Medan Petisah. In an atmosphere filled with gratitude and pride, the Rector emphasized that UNPRI’s 24-year journey has not been a short or easy process. The achievements reached today are the results of hard work, perseverance, and the shared commitment of the entire academic community, supported by the founder and the Prima Indonesia Foundation, in realizing an excellent university with a socio-technopreneurship vision.
Rector Chrismis shared the story of how UNPRI grew from the Prima Husada Academy of Nursing and Midwifery in 2002, transformed into the Prima College of Health Sciences in 2023, and officially became Universitas Prima Indonesia in 2025. “This journey has been full of dynamics and challenges. However, with strong spirit and collaboration, UNPRI has made great leaps and is now one of the best private universities in North Sumatra and among the leading ones in Indonesia,” the Rector said proudly. The vibrant atmosphere in the hall became a symbol of UNPRI’s renewed spirit as it steps toward its golden era.
Throughout more than two decades of its academic journey, amid various challenges and changes, UNPRI has continued to achieve remarkable accomplishments in many fields. Currently, UNPRI offers 57 study programs across 8 faculties, covering Diploma III, Bachelor, Professional, Master, Specialist, and Doctoral levels. These include not only health-related disciplines such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, health sciences, nursing, and midwifery, but also law, economics, science, technology, psychology, education, and agro-technology—fields aligned with the demands of modern industry. On the LED screen, Prof. Chrismis presented that 16 of UNPRI’s study programs have achieved “Excellent” accreditation, 2 with an “A” rating, 19 rated “Very Good,” while the rest continue to progress toward continuous academic quality improvement.
At the event, which was also attended by the Chairman of the UNPRI Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., along with vice rectors, deans, bureau heads, partners such as Royal Prima General Hospital, Global Prima, Prim TV, and invited guests from various high schools in Medan City, Prof. Chrismis revealed that UNPRI’s major current milestone is achieving international accreditation as part of its vision to become a World Class University. “The trust of the public, the government, and our partners who collaborate with UNPRI is solid proof that UNPRI is on the right path. This is not only a source of pride but also a great responsibility to continue innovating and contributing to the nation,” said the Rector, who is known for her warm and inspiring personality.
During the same occasion, the Rector announced UNPRI’s latest achievements, including its success in becoming the first private university (PTS) on the island of Sumatra to offer a Professional Psychology Program, as well as being the private university with the most Specialist Doctor Education Programs (PPDS) in Indonesia. The university has recently added an Internal Medicine Specialist Program, bringing the total to seven PPDS programs. Additionally, UNPRI has established one Off-Campus Study Program (PSDKU) in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, currently offering six study programs. “This marks an important milestone in UNPRI’s history, reaffirming its position as an excellent and competitive university both nationally and globally,” she added.
The peak celebration of UNPRI’s 24th Anniversary became even more festive with UNPRI Fiesta 2025, featuring the Mr. & Ms. UNPRI competition — an annual event to select talented, accomplished, and inspiring campus ambassadors with strong character. From hundreds of applicants, 16 of the best finalists delivered stunning performances after a rigorous selection process and more than a month of intensive training and quarantine. The grand and spectacular event, attended by Medan Mayor Rico Waas and his beloved wife Airin, was met with great enthusiasm from thousands of students who filled the 3,000-capacity hall from start to finish.
In closing her speech, Prof. Chrismis expressed appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the event, including sponsors and strategic partners. She hopes UNPRI will continue to be a home for young generations to grow into active, creative, innovative, adaptive, and well-charactered individuals with socio-technopreneurship and IT literacy. “UNPRI is not just a place to study — it is a home that shapes the future character needed by society. To all Mr. & Ms. UNPRI winners, congratulations on your achievements. Be proud ambassadors of UNPRI who bring the university’s good name across the nation and to the world,” she concluded. (Yd).
