Deputy Minister Dr. Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak Inaugurates the Center for Hajj, Umrah, and Religious Studies at ICEBesMA 2025 at UNPRI Excellence Campus, the First in Indonesia
UNPRI's Commitment as a Pioneer in Developing Integrated Hajj, Umrah, and Religious Studies
UNPRI, Medan – Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) has once again made history by hosting The 3rd International Conference on Economics, Business, Management, and Accounting (ICEBesMA 2025). This grand conference took place at the 10th Floor Main Hall of UNPRI’s Socio-Technopreneurship Campus in Medan, North Sumatra, under the theme “New Economic Order and Impact on Sustainable Development: Challenges and Pathways Forward.”
The event was officially opened by the Rector of UNPRI, Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting, M.Kes., AIFO-K., who emphasized that ICEBesMA is a platform for global solutions as UNPRI aims for international accreditation by 2026. Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Foundation's Daily Management Board, Prof. Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., Vice-Rectors, and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fajar Rezeki Ananda Lubis, S.E., M.S.M., who initiated the event.
This year’s conference was particularly special with the presence of Dr. Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, S.E., M.E., Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah of the Republic of Indonesia, as the Keynote Speaker. He presented “Best Economy on Religious Activity,” discussing religious economics from a sustainable perspective. During the conference, he also inaugurated the Hajj, Umrah, and Religion Research Center in Indonesia at UNPRI. This monumental step establishes UNPRI as the first general campus in Indonesia to have a strategic research center integrating socio-economic values with modern religious academic research.
ICEBesMA 2025 also featured prominent international speakers, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulnaidi Bin Yaacob from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Dr. Kajal Ramnanun from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Following plenary and parallel sessions, the event concluded with an awards ceremony for Best Paper at the 22nd-floor Prima Lounge and a community service trip to Samosir Island, Lake Toba, on Thursday (13/11/2025).
The successful execution of ICEBesMA 2025 reinforces UNPRI’s commitment to SDGs 4, SDGs 9, SDGs 17 as a tangible effort to build international scientific networks and enhance Indonesia's educational diplomacy globally.
