Head of BI North Sumatra Representative: Unpri is expected to become a Road Model for Higher Education as a Place to Develop Entrepreneurs
The Faculty of Economics, Universitas Prima Indonesia (FE Unpri) once again invites students from high school to vocational school and university students in Medan City to become entrepreneurs through the Period IV Entrepreneurship Festival, at Campus II Jl. Sekip Medan, Sunday (7/6).
The event, which was opened by the Head of the Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office for North Sumatra Province, Difi A Johansyah, was attended by the Chairperson of the Advisory Board, Dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister, M.Kes., AIFM., Chairperson of the Daily Management Board (BPH) Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., Rector of Unpri Dr. Djacobus Tarigan, AAI., DAAK., Vice Rector I Seno Aji, S.Pd., M.Eng., Prac., Dean of FE Unpri Cut Fitri Rostina, S.E., M.M., Vice Dean of FE Hendry, S.E., M.M., participants of the Entrepreneurship Festival from several schools and universities in Medan City.
Dean of FE Unpri Cut Fitri Rostina said that this activity is very important considering the high unemployment rate, while job opportunities are minimal. Therefore, FE Unpri hopes that the younger generation, especially high school/vocational school students and college students can be encouraged to dare to move to open new job opportunities and be able to create innovations in entrepreneurship, so as to reduce unemployment rates.
"Unpri Faculty of Economics always wants to produce young generations of Indonesia who are able to work in the field of science that has been obtained from education in higher education and are able to produce new ideas for entrepreneurship in accordance with the knowledge obtained," he said.
He said, the IV Entrepreneurship Festival held a Business Plan Competition which began in May 2015, then enlivened by 70 creative and innovative bazaar booths from students, some of which were from Business Plan Competition participants, exhibitions, art performances and Live Bands.
Head of BPH Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., added, the Entrepreneurship Festival activity is actually to realize and develop the potential of Unpri students, both creativity and business efforts to be channeled in this activity.
"It is hoped that after this activity they can quickly move to become young entrepreneurs and also hope that in the future there will be investors who look at these students or high school students, so that their products can be marketed in the community," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the BI North Sumatra Representative Difi A Johansyah welcomed the activity held by FE Unpri, because it was able to develop entrepreneurship from high school and vocational school students and students. "This activity is very creative, and the students who participate in this festival are also creative in becoming entrepreneurs. Hopefully every year this activity can continue and can continue to develop. Hopefully Unpri will become a road model for universities where entrepreneurs can develop," he said.
On that occasion, Difi said that becoming an entrepreneur is a way to heaven. Because according to him, entrepreneurs provide jobs for other people.
"Success as an entrepreneur is not actually becoming rich, success as an entrepreneur is being able to provide life to others around us. This is an important philosophy of entrepreneurship, that's why entrepreneurship is the path to heaven," he said.
Difi also shared tips for success as an entrepreneur, including maintaining trust or mandate, thinking positively, being honest, being confident, daring to take risks, never giving up and maintaining friendships and creating networking (work networks).
Meanwhile, the winners of the 2015 Business Plan Competition at the high school-vocational school level, first place was won by students from Yayasan Perguruan WR Supratman 1, second place was won by students from Global Prima, third place was won by SMK Pangeran Antasari. While for the university students, first place was won by students from Unpri, second place was won by students from Unpri, and third place was won by students from STIE A&BI.
