Globalization has penetrated the boundaries of space and time. Such rapid dynamics in the fields of technology and information require rapid anticipatory and adaptive actions. The development of socio-culture, knowledge, and technology has brought students' lives to a stage faster than their age. Like the body, in order to be resistant to various diseases, its immunity must be increased, one of the efforts is through vaccination. In a social perspective, there are three social diseases that have very large negative impacts, namely poverty, ignorance, and backwardness of civilization.
How to increase social resistance (immunity) to avoid these three diseases? The answer is education. Therefore, education can be a social vaccine.
In addition to being a social vaccine, education is also a social elevator to improve social status. These two things are the background of the 2016 Language and Literature Festival with the theme "Educational Innovation in Welcoming the Golden Generation of Indonesia", which was held on Tuesday, March 15, 2017 at the Suara Naviri Convention Hall Medan.
We need vaccines and social elevators so that we can avoid the three diseases and be able to improve our social status as well as a real manifestation.
In welcoming the golden generation of Indonesia 2045 which is the 100th anniversary mile stone of the Republic of Indonesia. The theme is a reflection of the answer to the challenges, problems, and hopes of the community in preparing a better generation of the nation.
Therefore, all elements of the nation, especially education must collaborate to improve self-competence, determination, and innovation to improve self-competence, determination, and innovation so that the demographic bonus contributes to the country, namely the Golden Generation of Indonesia 2045.
The 2016 Language and Literature Festival consists of several activities including: 1.) drama performances at the SMA/SMK/MAN levels throughout North Sumatra, 2) English speeches at the SMA/SMK/MAN levels throughout North Sumatra, competing for the North Sumatra Governor's Cup, 3) English speeches at the Universitas Prima Indonesia Student level, 4) poetry musicalization at the Universitas Prima Indonesia Student level (15/3) at Universitas Prima Indonesia, Jalan Sekip Simpang Sikambing Medan.
In addition to the competition, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Prima Indonesia held a National Seminar with speakers Dr. Rohmadi, M.Hum. (Lecturer at Surakarta State University-Education Practitioner) and Drs. Zulkifli Simatupang, M.Pd., CET. (Education practitioner) attended by the Chairperson of the Advisory Board Dr. dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister, M.Kes., AIFM, Chairperson of the Daily Executive Board Dr. Tommy Leonard, S.H., M.Kn., and Rector Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI, DAAK along with the Academic Community of Universitas Prima Indonesia
