316 UNPRI Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery Students Participate in Capping Day
Medan, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery and Diploma III Nursing Program, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI), held a Capping Day on the 10th Floor of the UNPRI Main Hall, Jln.Sampul No. 3 Medan, which was attended by 316 students, Thursday (27/2/2025).
UNPRI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Chrismis Novalinda Ginting MKes, represented by Vice Chancellor III UNPRI Refi Ikhtiari, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D, congratulated the 316 students who had participated in Caping Day.
"Capping Day is not the end of education, but the beginning of students to carry out Field Learning Practice after completing one semester of education. So don't be complacent, continue to increase your high learning spirit, because the next semester is still long, such as S1 Nursing and Bachelor of Midwifery which take 3.5 years to graduate. Likewise, Diploma III Nursing takes 2.5 years to graduate. For that, study hard to be able to graduate at the end with the same number as on Capping Day today," he said.
Meanwhile, the Management of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) of North Sumatra Province, represented by Heni Triana, S.Kep., Ners., SKM., M.Kes, asked students to continue to be enthusiastic about learning in order to become professional nurses and midwives.
"The task of Nurses and Midwives is a very noble task, therefore be a good Nurse and Midwife, provide care with full empathy, and be responsible in every job. Capping Day is the installation of the Cap and lighting of candles, which means giving new enthusiasm in the beginning of students carrying out field learning practices later. Continue to learn and carry out nursing duties well and enthusiastically", he asked.
At the event hosted by Dr. Elis Anggeria, S.Kes., Ners., M.Kep and Basri, S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep as the MC, Chairperson of the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) of North Sumatra Province, Betty Mangkuji, SST., M.Keb said that Nurses and Midwives are very noble health workers, this nobility can be seen when on duty without discriminating race, rank, class and religion.
"For example, when a Nurse/Midwife treats someone with a skin disease, then after the patient goes home, make it a habit to clean and sterilize it properly, so that when another patient comes in, it can be reused or a good room can be found. do not use the patient's former room because it can be contagious. Don't just because the patient is your relative, keep giving them a different room, not the first patient's room, so if someone else comes in, they will still be given a decent place. Likewise, midwives must be able to help patients well, support government programs in reducing maternal and child mortality rates. So Capping Day is the beginning of students getting to know the practice of field learning, therefore make good use of the knowledge gained in the field, so that students will become professional Nurses and Midwives in the future," he explained.Impressions and messages were conveyed by the representative of students from the Nursing Undergraduate Study Program, Chelsea Olivia Zega. Chelsea expressed her deepest gratitude to Universitas Prima Indonesia, starting from the Founder, Foundation Supervisor, BPH, Rector, Dean, Lecturers and education administration, so that today all who have completed the first semester, both midwives and nurses, can be Caping Day on this happy day.
"However, all my friends, don't be satisfied here, because in the future there are still many more that must be passed until graduating as male and female graduates. Caping Day gives meaning to new enthusiasm and new experiences to plunge into the field of practice to increase knowledge in the field of Nursing for Nurses, and midwifery for Midwives. We also thank our parents who have brought us to this day to be able to be Caping Day and to complete our education later. We promise to study better so that we can realize our dreams of becoming professional Nurses or Midwives, and can serve our parents, nation and country," he said. The Capping Day event was attended by 1000 people, consisting of 316 students (196 from the Bachelor of Nursing Study Program, 97 from the Bachelor of Midwifery Study Program, and 23 from the Diploma III Nursing Study Program), 632 parents of students, lecturers, committees and other invitees. Deans at Universitas Prima Indonesia. Also present were the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr. Tiarnida Nababan, SST., S.Kep., Ners., M.Kep. (REL/MBB)
