Collaboration between UNPRI and BPMP North Sumatra: FAST-UNPRI Industrial Engineering Students Enhance Skills in Educational Quality Management Systems
UNPRI, Medan – Six students from the Industrial Engineering Study Program of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST) at Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) are undergoing an internship program at the Education Quality Assurance Center (BPMP) North Sumatra from May 12 to October 12, 2025.
This activity is part of the implementation of the cooperation between UNPRI and BPMP North Sumatra in order to enhance student competency through experiential learning in a government institution.
This internship program aims to provide a direct understanding of the application of quality management systems and quality control in educational institutions, as well as to develop analytical skills regarding data systems and quality monitoring. The students are actively involved in various activities within BPMP North Sumatra, including the monitoring and evaluation of education quality, preparation of quality control reports, and archiving of education standard documents. Through these activities, students gain the opportunity to understand the internal audit process of educational institutions and to apply the principles of quality control and quality system management in the public sector.
The activity was officially opened by the Head of BPMP North Sumatra Province, Tajuddin Idris, S.Si., M.T., and received official publication through the BPMP Medan website. In his welcoming address, Tajuddin expressed appreciation for the collaboration between UNPRI and BPMP, which he considers an important step in building synergy between higher education and the national education quality assurance institution.
“We welcome the presence of UNPRI students. Synergy between education quality assurance institutions and higher education institutions like this is very important for building a sustainable and responsive education ecosystem to the challenges of the times. Do not waste the opportunity during the internship at BPMP; make this experience a valuable provision for the professional world,” said Tajuddin Idris.
The Education Quality Assurance Center (BPMP) North Sumatra is a technical implementation unit under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, specifically the Directorate General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, and Secondary Education. This institution plays a strategic role in guaranteeing and improving the quality of education in its working area, such as in North Sumatra. Collaboration with UNPRI is a concrete form of synergy between the government and the academic world to produce high-quality and competitive human resources.
Meanwhile, Dr. Anita Christine Sembiring, S.T., M.T., Head of the UNPRI Industrial Engineering Study Program, explained that this internship is the implementation of the MoU signed by the two institutions.
“With a Very Good accreditation (Baik Sekali), the UNPRI Industrial Engineering Study Program continues to be committed to producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also ready to face the challenges of the industrial and governmental worlds. This internship program is an opportunity for students to prove their ability to apply the knowledge gained since the early semesters,” she explained.
The UNPRI Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Study Program is one of the seven excellent programs under the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST), along with Electrical Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Information Systems, Visual Communication Design, Architecture, and Civil Engineering, with Prof. Ir. Bhakti Alamsyah, MT., Ph.D. as the Dean. Students are not only equipped with theory but also a Diploma Companion Certificate (SKPI) and competency certificates from UNPRI's own Prima Professional Certification Institute (LSP), which is not available at all universities in Indonesia.
