Strengthening Indonesia–China Friendship: UNPRI Lecturers and Students Attend 2026 Chinese New Year Gathering Hosted by the Chinese Consulate General in Medan

Medan – The invitation from the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Medan served as a momentum for the gathering of lecturers and students of Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) who have studied in China and the strengthening of educational cooperation networks between the two countries. Warmth and a spirit of friendship were felt in the gathering organized by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Medan on Wednesday (Feb 12, 2026). This activity became a gathering place for Indonesian students and alumni who have study experience in China. The event was attended by nearly a hundred Indonesian students currently enrolled in various universities in China along with their alumni.
It was an honor for UNPRI lecturers and students to be invited to this event as part of the academic community related to education in China. The UNPRI lecturers present are graduates of universities in China. Meanwhile, UNPRI students were invited because they had previously participated in the Student Exchange Program at Shandong Drug and Food Vocational College, China. This involvement reflects the university's commitment to producing competent and high-quality human resources through exposure to international education.
In his speech, the Chinese Consul General in Medan, Huang He, stated that the number of Indonesian students applying for study visas to China continues to increase every year. He encouraged students to act as ambassadors of friendship between China and Indonesia and contribute to strengthening bilateral friendship and people-to-people relations. "Seeing this enthusiasm, the Consulate presented this activity as a forum to strengthen togetherness, share experiences, and strengthen educational relations between the two countries," he said.
Participants took part in various interesting activities such as workshops on guessing lantern riddles, making dumplings, playing the guzheng, and making hawthorn candy (Tanghulu). Indonesian students also shared their experiences while studying abroad and stated their commitment to becoming bridges in fostering friendly relations between theua two countries. A warm atmosphere full of laughter and intimacy colored the course of the event.
For UNPRI, participation in this diplomatic forum is not just a ceremony, but a concrete step in expanding foreign cooperation networks and improving the quality of human resources.
