UNPRI Holds Internal Socialization Again: Full Support for the MBKM Program

In an effort to support the government's Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program and provide facilities for improving soft skills and hard skills for students, Universitas Prima Indonesia (UNPRI) held a socialization of the Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM 3). The activity was carried out online via the Zoom Meeting platform, on Friday, March 24, 2023. The event was organized by the Academic Study Center, an institution within UNPRI that oversees the MBKM program from the Ministry.
The socialization of "Provision of Independent Student Exchange Students (PMM) 3 Outbound Universitas Prima Indonesia" was attended by the Vice Chancellor 1 of UNPRI for Academic Affairs and the coordinator of PT Kampus Mengajar, Abdi Dharma, S.Kom, M.Kom, Temporary Official (Pjs) of the Academic Study Center, Friska Ria Sitorus, S.Pd, M.Ed., P.hD, and attended by representatives of the Dean, Head of Study Program, Secretary of Study Program, and around 600 UNPRI students who enthusiastically participated in the event from start to finish.
Regarding UNPRI's track record, in PMM 1 UNPRI became an inbound PT and accepted 36 Independent Student Exchange Program Students who carried out activities for 3 months. Then, as many as 131 Universitas Prima Indonesia students have participated in the Independent Student Exchange (PMM) 2 offline and completed the learning process for 1 (one) semester with 20 credits through lectures outside their home university.
For the PMM 3 requirements that must be prepared by active students are 4th semester students, completing 36 question points on the PMM platform, completing and uploading 6 mandatory documents, a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a telegram account to always be updated with the latest information. Universitas Prima Indonesia is ready to send students to study at 204 State/Private Universities spread throughout Indonesia.
The socialization event invited two student speakers who participated in the PMM 2 program, Mida Uli Hutagalung and Rosari Ratna Cempaka Simangungsong, students of the Faculty of Psychology who both participated in the PMM 2 activities at Nusa Cendana University, Kupang.
"In my opinion, PMM activities are extraordinary activities that can be followed by UNPRI students/and students from all over Indonesia. Students, like me, will gain extensive experience, it was my first time on a plane, going to a faraway place, East Nusa Tenggara and experiencing tourism and studying in Nusa Cendana Kupang. I got this PMN info from my friend, the goal is to study outside the island and we can feel the difference between our home university and our recipient university," said Uli.
Relationships and friendships across islands, across ethnicities are unforgettable experiences from PMM, as stated by Uli and Rosari.
"For the benefits we receive, there are many positive things from this PMM program. First, we get friends from Sabang to Merauke, from universities from Java, Sulawesi, Kalimantan. We are students from private campuses and we get the opportunity to study at a state university, one of the best state universities in East Nusa Tenggara," continued Rosari, "this is an unforgettable experience for me, many activities and practical lectures. In our campus environment (Kupang) we contribute directly to the community there. We also find guidance from mentors and lecturers who teach the Nusantara Module."
"The most important thing is to learn and understand the culture, the culture in East Nusa Tenggara is very different from mine who comes from Sumatra. "It is true 'Exchanging Temporarily, Meaningful Forever'", maybe in Medan our culture is tough, we learn to understand people with cultures that are different from ours. We also enjoy the natural beauty of Indonesia through the Nusantara module, we are very welcomed by the community through cultural performances," said Rosari ending her testimony.
The Independent Student Exchange (PMM) is one of the flagship programs of the Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) program. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) is fully responsible for implementing this program.
The form of PMM is the exchange of domestic students between State and Private Universities for one semester from one island cluster to another island cluster. This flagship MBKM program offers many benefits for students, including: conversion of up to 20 credits, various living cost assistance, BPJS, to social contribution activities and introduction to local culture through the Nusantara Module activity.
