Dental & Oral Health Service Center FKG UNPRI Will Be Used as Referral Center in Medan City
Medan Mayor Rahudman Harahap welcomed the opening of the Prima Dental and Oral Health Service Center as the Dental and Oral Health Service Center of the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Prima Indonesia (Unpri), and it is hoped that in the future it can become the best referral center for dental and oral health services in Medan City.
This was stated by the Mayor of Medan in his speech read by drg. Johanna S, M.Kes from the Medan City Health Office at the Soft Opening of the FKG Unpri Dental and Oral Health Service Center on Jl. Medan Tenun Factory, Monday (5/3). Present at the event were the Supervisor, dr. I Nyoman Ehrich Lister, MKes, AIFM, Head of BPH Unpri Tommy Leonard, SH, MKn, Prof. dr. Djakobus Tarigan, AAI, DAAK, Dean of FKG Prof. drg. Monang Panjaitan, MS, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Unpri dr. Firman Sitepu, SpA, Coordinator of Kopertis Region I North Sumatra-Aceh Prof. Ir. M Nawawiy Loebis, M.Phil, PhD, Dean of FKG USU Prof. drg. Nazruddin, SpOR, PhD, Secretary of the North Sumatra Health Office drg. Wahid Khusairi, MM, and other invitees.
The mayor also said that in addition to being a referral center for dental and oral health services for health centers in Medan, the Prima Dental and Oral Health Service Center can provide optimal services to the wider community. Likewise for the world of education, the clinic can be used by FKG Unpri students themselves as a place to study and practice.
Director of the FKG Unpri Dental and Oral Health Service Center drg. Mellisa Sim said that the place will later be used as a center for education, research, service and community service, and is able to develop the independence of dental science and technology in order to compete in the era of globalization. "In addition, it is also to improve the competence of Unpri dentistry graduates," he said.
In the future, said Mellisa Sim, the service center will be developed into a dental and oral hospital. Currently, her party is collaborating with other health institutions both domestically with various professional organizations by creating seminars or continuing education programs, or abroad such as with Taiwan.
Meanwhile, Dean of FKG Unpri Prof. Monang Panjaitan said that the opening of the Prima Dental and Oral Health Service Center was to answer the needs of the community regarding dental and oral health services. "Based on a survey, 80-85 percent of people in Medan City and North Sumatra suffer from cavities. With the existence of this dental and oral health service center, it means helping the government improve public health, especially teeth and mouth," he said.
Prof. Monang said that the service center could be a reference for health centers and private practices, because the Prima Dental and Oral Health Service Center has specialist services with complete and modern equipment such as x-ray equipment, complete specialist doctors such as dental and oral specialists, surgical specialists, pediatricians, orthodontic specialists, dental filling specialists and others.
On that occasion, the Coordinator of Kopertis Region I North Sumatra-Aceh Prof. Nawawiy Loebis admitted that he was proud of Unpri which has a commitment to adding campus facilities. This, he said, will further strengthen the quality of the Unpri Faculty of Dentistry and also graduates from the college. P10
